"So Maya. What will you get?" Asked Riley as they lined up in Mrs. Svorski's bakery. Maya thought for a while. She then squinted her eyes and gave RIley a cheeky grin.
"I remember how red velvet cupcakes would always be your favorite." Maya said. Riley gave Maya a confused look until realisation struck her. She then shook her head. Riley knew Maya like the back of her hand.
"I know what you're doing. Maya, if you want something, you don't have to pretend that I'm the one who likes it" Riley said, stifling a laugh,
"I can't help it! I know you're my best friend and all, but I just don't like it when people do things for me."
"Maya..." Riley trailed off with a frown.
"It's okay Riles. Just get our food then let's head out."
Riley ordered a Red Velvet cupcake and a Banana muffin. She didn't like Red Velvet for some reason. Maya kept telling Riley that it was literally just a normal cupcake with red food colouring and icing but she thought otherwise.
"I'm telling you. The Knicks have no chance of beating the Spurs this season!" Maya said.
They were currently walking to the subway while munching on their cupcakes and playfully arguing about basketball.
"Come on! Don't you have the New York pride?" Riley said as they both stepped in the subway.
"I'm just saying, after all the f-" Maya was interrupted by the sound of Riley's phone ringing.
She took out her phone and saw that it was her uncle Josh. Before she could answer, Maya blurted out.
"Boing!" Riley gave her a confused look. Maya's eyes shifted from behind Riley, to her phone.
"Hey Uncle Josh!" They had a conversation for around 3 minutes until Riley decided to hang up. They were basically just talking about how he's coming over for Christmas.
"Look, Maya. I know you like my Uncle Josh but he's older than you." She said with the voice that made her sound like she was a mother scolding her daughter.
Maya could barely remember how Riley's uncle looked like but she remembered having a crush on him when she was just 8.
Riley put away her phone and decided to put on some lip gloss.
"Woah Riley. You don't do lipgloss!" Maya said, shocked as her best friend puts on lipgloss.
"Oh! What I forgot to mention is that I'm completely reinventing myself. I ride the subway now." She paused. "I'm just as cool as you now."
Riley can't help but notice that Maya kept glancing behind her.
"Hey Riles?"
"Yes Maya?" Riley looked up from staring at her shoes and smiled at Maya.
"Look at that guy. He looks cute. He looks like your type of guy."
Riley looked behind her. Yeah he is cute. But not really my type.
"I don't know Maya. He looks more like the bad boy type. Not sure I'd go for those guys. I want a guy who would treat me like I'm a fairytale princess and he'd make the world full of rainbows and sprinkles and-"
"Okay Riley I get it. He's not your type." Maya said, chuckling.
"But he's really cute. Talk to him for me?" Riley pleaded.
Maya smiled at Riley, which looked forced. "Sure."
Maya took a deep breath and walked over to the cute guy.
"Hi I'm Maya. You're really cute." Oh God did I really just say that
"We should hang out sometime!" She said then sat down beside him. "You make me happy."
"You don't pay enough attention to me." She stood up. "This isn't working out."
"It's you. Not me. We can still be friends!" She then scrunches her nose. "Not really."
Maya then walks away from the cute guy. What the hell came over to me? She thought.
"He's available! We just broke up." Maya joked. But Riley didn't seem to get it.
"Are you okay? Do you wanna talk about it?"
"You still wanna be like me?" Maya dared.
"I want to be exactly like you. I think too much." She breathed. "You don't think at all!"
"See? You get me! So let's not think!" Maya said as she unclasps Riley's hand from the pole, which sent her flying to the cute subway boy.
Maya did find the guy cute, but so did Riley. She wasn't used to getting what she wanted anyway, so she just let Riley have her moment. I'll get my chance soon, she thought. Just not with this one.

Hello hi. Well, here's the first chapter! Basically, it's gonna be the normal Girl Meets World but it'll have a Lucaya twist. That's what I said on Tumblr haha.
