The group stood just outside the CDC, bathed in the light from the open doorway.
Shane turned to Daryl, instructing, "Daryl, you cover the back," to which Daryl nodded in agreement.
As the group entered the CDC, Rick called out, "Hello? Hello."
Dale took charge, advising, "Close those doors. Watch for walkers." The group cautiously explored the lobby, finding it completely empty.
Rick repeated, "Hello?" as a tense atmosphere enveloped them.
Suddenly, the sound of a gun being cocked filled the air, prompting everyone to point their guns toward Dr. Jenner, who stood in a doorway with a rifle in his hands.
"Anybody infected?" Jenner inquired.
Rick responded, "One of our group was. He didn't make it."
Jenner scrutinized the group before asking, "Why are you here? What do you want?"
Rick surveyed his companions and then answered Jenner, "A chance."
Jenner sighed, expressing the weight of such requests in the current circumstances. "That's asking an awful lot these days," he remarked.
"I know," Rick conceded.
Jenner looked at the group and proposed, "You all submit to a blood test. That's the price of admission."
Rick nodded in agreement, stating, "We can do that."
Jenner lowered his gun, cautioning, "You got stuff to bring in, you do it now. Once this door closes, it stays closed."
The group hurriedly entered, following Jenner into an elevator as the doors sealed behind them.

The group found themselves in a small elevator, the air heavy with silence until Daryl broke it.
"Doctors always go around packing heat like that?" he asked Jenner, who looked over and responded.
"There were plenty left lying around. I familiarized myself. But you look harmless enough." Jenner then turned his attention to Carl and Hannah, remarking, "Except you two, I'll have to keep my eye on you."
Carl and Hannah smiled at Jenner, who chuckled.
However, when Jenner looked away, then his smiles faded.
