"You were betrayed, yes. But do you have to shut everyone else off?"
His concerned and pained voice rang as he stood behind the closed door, palms and forehead against the silverleaf wood, eyes closed to hide the excruciating pain he's feeling deep within his chest.
The cold feelings of the wood fail in comparison to the person inside, who was too broken and hurt to ever place a trust in anyone, not even herself.
"Please Eleanor, let us talk. I beg you."
Inside the room consumed by darkness, Eleanor covered her mouth to silence the broken melody that is her weeping.
Seated on the floor, back against the door, she could hear all the concern and the pleading - the care. The actual, genuine care.
Yet the monsters living inside her mind hunted her so much, whispering things that bring nothing but pain and fear.
How could she ever trust anyone after what happened?
Eleanor screamed silently in her palms in pain that cannot be felt physically, hating herself for not being enough, for being so pathetic and for not being brave.
Her voice was so broken and afraid as she finally couldn't help but breakdown as she pleaded in fearful whispers.
"I can't do this anymore...."
