You open your eyes to see the ceiling of the healing centre. A voice comes from the right of you.
"Oh good, you're awake." It's Elwin. He's standing over at the cot next to you, which Sophie was sitting on the edge of, and handing her a small vial filled with shimmery blue liquid. She glances your way and shoves the vial into her bag as quicky as possible. She clears her throat. You sit on the edge of the bed, and Elwin comes over to you. He flashes a sphere of light around you, making you squint as it's quite bright.
"Yep, you're good to go. But you two need to be more careful in future." Elwin hands you your bag and you take it gratefully. Sophie is waiting by the door. She holds it open for you. You just give her a slight smile and step out to start walking down the hallway.
"Hey, wait up!" Calls Sophie, jogging to catch up with you. You just keep walking as she struggles to keep up the pace beside you. "Why don't you like me?" She asks. You look at her for a second, then walk faster. She runs beside you. "Why won't you talk to me?"
"She won't talk to you, because you're not worth her time." Says Biana from the doorway. Keefe, Fitz, Dex and Marella are standing with her. Sophie looks confused.
"Now, Biana. I'm sure that's not true. She's just shy." Fitz assures Sophie. Keefe laughs from his side.
"Sure, and I've never pulled a prank in my life. I could practically hear Y/N screaming at Biana just a few weeks ago. Or maybe my ears were playing up." Biana glares at him. He shuts up, but is still laughing.
"But I really want to be your friend." Sophie turns to you. You just shift uncomfortably and look at Biana. She gives a slight shake of the head. You're about to walk off, but you remember what your Father said and decide to make your own decision. You really want to be friends with Sophie. So you stay. She smiles, and offers her hand.
"How about we start over. I'm Sophie- Sophie Foster. What's your name?"
"Y/N Vacker." You say shyly, shaking her hand. You look at the rest of your group. Dex and Marella look happy, Fitz is practically glowing, Keefe is trying to see if Fitz will burst from happiness, and Biana is looking outraged that you defied her. She turns and walks off.
"Is Sophie...is Sophie a human name?" You ask hesitantly. She nods.
"Because I was raised by humans." Your eyes widen.
"It's true? I mean, I heard Fitz talking about it, but he's so full of himself that I wouldn't put it past him to lie about it. Well, it's cool!" Sophie laughs and Fitz looks annoyed. What Biana said wasn't true. You weren't shy at all, she just never allowed you to have any friends. But now you were living your own life. And it was going great so far.
By the time you make your way to the leapmaster with Fitz, Biana is already there and shouting 'Everglen!' and stepping into the light. You frown. She usually waits for you. Sophie catches up with you, out of breath.
"Hey guys! Is it okay if I come over today?" She pants. Fitz smiles and nods. You almost turn away, but then realise that Biana's already gone anyway.
"Sure." You tell her. She grins. The three of you step up, shout Everglen and step into the light.
