Rune was sleeping peacefully, until he felt a strange breeze, and sunlight hitting his face. He slowly opened his eyes, and looked around in utter confusion and surprise.

Rune was no longer in bed with Rias in the Gremory estate.

Instead, he stood on what seemed like a barren field of dirt and dust. It looked like mid afternoon given how the sky and clouds above appeared. Though the clouds seemed to be never ending, and the constant breeze blew dirt and dust at a constant pace.

Looking around, he finally took notice of his surroundings properly, and he was shocked into silence.

All around him, were an innumerable field of blades. Each unique in its shape, history, and origin.

The slight smell of dust and ash hit Rune's nose and snapped him out of his trance. He slowly began to make his way through the seemingly endless field to explore this strange place, unaware that 3 pairs of eyes were observing him from afar.

------

On the tallest hill of the barren realm of blades stood two individuals. One, a woman with deep and sharp red eyes holding a smug smile.

The other, a tanned man with steel-gray eyes, looking both shocked and irritated. "Alright, I get it, you were right. No need to be annoying about it." The unknown man grumbled.

The female figure chuckled slightly, before nodding. "Indeed, I knew that if anyone could make it into this world, it would be him. Now that you've gotten your desired proof, will you keep your end of the bargain?" She asked with the air of someone that knows they have the advantage.

The stern man looked to the mysterious woman, then to the distant Rune before he spoke. "I still think this is a stupid idea. Just because I wish to be free of my curse does not mean I'm so ready to make someone else go through this hellish eternity." He looked down to this barren world, empty of everything besides uncountable tools of death and destruction in silence, as the breeze blew by both of them calmly.

The woman nodded knowingly, but still held her smirk before responding. "I assure you, that things would be very different for that young man. You will be free of your eternal prison as we've discussed. And in return, you need only allow him to inherit this world and your abilities. He is capable of handling it, and more if he continues to grow as he has. In the end, your prison will become his salvation."

The stern man closed his eyes in deep thought, before a small smile crept on his face. He turned to the mysterious woman and gave his final answer.

"If I can truly be rid of this prison without condemning someone else to my fate, then I agree with your deal 'Shadow'." He finished whilst crossing his arms over his armored chest.
