Rias stood frozen in her spot, with no outward reaction as she tried to process what happened just a few moments ago when Rune and Kuroka were forcibly teleported away.
Koneko began tearing up in concern for her older sister, but also for Rune, whom had done so much for her.
Akeno covered her mouth with her hand as her eyes remained widened in surprise and worry.
Sona stood with narrowed calculating eyes next to a confused Serafall.
Sairaorg and Seekvaira both stood with furrowed eyebrows as they tried making sense of what just happened.
However, they all snapped out of it when they heard a long exasperated sigh behind them. The young devils turned around to see Venalana with a small nostalgic smile, and Grayfia rubbing her temples with both hands in frustration.
Before anyone could say anything however, Venalana stepped towards the young devils and spoke first. "I understand this is a shock, but please calm down. We know who did this, and why they did it. We simply didn't think they'd be this dramatic about it." She finished with a vague chuckle.
Rias was the first to step towards her mother to ask the question in everyone else's mind. "What do you mean you know? What happened to Rune? To Kuroka? Where did they go?" Rias asked back to back as her worry overcame her.
Venalana brought her daughter into a comforting hug before responding. "Calm down sweetheart, they'll be alright. This was simply-"
Before Venalana could finish however, she was interrupted when the room darkened and shadows stretched around them, making the young devils nervous. Rias and Akeno however, where the only ones among their age to have an idea as to what was happening as Venalana released Rias from her hug to look around as well.
Before their eyes, the shadows converged into a single spot and formed a perfect sphere in the air, small wisps of violet mist radiating off of the deep void before them, before they saw bright white words forming amidst it's dark surface.
"Worry not, for Rune and his companion have arrived safely to their first destination."
Curiosity and suspicion filled the thoughts of the young devils, when Venalana stepped forward to speak first.
"I see you still possess your flair for the dramatic hmm?" Venalana asked in mirth as she crossed her arms below her breasts in a playful manner.
The sphere then began changing the visible letters on its surface to spell out a different response.
"And I see you're still as mischievous as ever, little Lana. I apologize for not making a more personal visit, unfortunately there are too many eyes around you and yours to do so safely. I do wish to congratulate both you and your husband on your first grandchild however. That is a gift I've never received in the past, but hope to one day in the future. I cannot speak any further, but I can allow you a short glimpse on how Rune and his feline companion are faring as consolation."
It was then that Rias put two and two together and stepped forward to stand beside her smiling mother. "A-are you Rune's mother?" She asked nervously, surprising the rest of the gathered young devils considerably. Though Grayfia did notice some of the young ladies in attendance stand a bit straighter when the question was asked, causing her to shake her head and sigh once again.
The shadowy sphere slowly changed the letters displayed once again before the answer could be read, and it surprised everyone that didn't know beforehand.
