Once Lily climbed up the stairs to the astronomy tower, she saw Sirius standing there. He was looking up to the sky, where a few clouds covered most of the stars. Lily silently entered the platform and went up next to him. For a few minutes they just stayed there and both enjoyed the silence until Lily broke it with a simple question: "Do you want to talk?" Sirius didn't answer immediately.
He thought about it, but realized that maybe talking to Lily would actually help him, so he started: "I am just so confused and I definitely regret that kiss now." "But why? You said yourself that it was amazing?!", now Lily was the one being confused, but the moment Sirius explained the scales fell from Lily's eyes. "Yes and that's the problem! It was absolutely incredible und now I am not really sure concerning my date with Veronica. Remus really sat the bar pretty high and I know that in my head she would have to compete with that." Lily chose her next words carefully, because they would decide if James' and her plan would work or if they had to change things. "What do you plan to do now? Maybe you could talk to Remus again?"
"No, definitely not! I definitely won't talk to him about that. He is probably annoyed that I asked him and maybe he is even disgusted, but that's what I deserve after being such a shitty friend... No, I think I need a kiss to compare that with Remus' and my kiss. He is probably just a really good kisser and I just made it more difficult for myself to find a girlfriend now, because I might be tempted to set this kiss as a standard one. I don't have a choice, but to go on that date with Veronica and maybe at the end I will be able to compare."
Lily was internally screaming and was really tempted to actually scream at him, but in defeat she stayed silent and just nodded. She could feel that Sirius didn't even think about the fact that he could have romantic feelings for Remus and she knew better than to anger him by trying to talk him out of his self-created master plan.
Later Lily returned to the common room and ranted to James about Sirius ignorance and stupidity: "How can someone be so freaking blind?! He doesn't even think about love or feelings?! It sounds like kissing is more of a science project to him rather than anything serious! I think we have a really long way ahead if we want to help them."
James hugged her and after she calmed down a bit he shyly responded: "Don't be so hard on Sirius...you yourself were not the fastest person to be honest about your feelings. How much did it take for you to admit to yourself, how you felt about me? And how long did it take before you could talk about and also show it?" Lily was frustrated, but she knew that James was right. Everything takes time and maybe the date with Veronica would actually be an opportunity for Sirius to figure stuff out.
