She'd seen him go down on the field and hadn't been able to do anything but watch helplessly as they pulled him off the field. She knows it must have hurt a lot, or he would have gotten back up himself. She assumes his mom is down with him, or his dad, but she assumes she wouldn't be allowed to see him - she's not even sure where they've taken him so she just sits there helplessly, mildly panicking that her boyfriend is seriously injured and she can't even do anything about it. She reaches for her phone to send him a message, when suddenly someone taps her on the shoulder,
"Kelce's asked for you." The guy says, gesturing for her to follow him. Taylor scrambles up, following him closely. He wants to see me??? She thinks, her heart warming that he'd chosen to have her beside him in this moment.
Taylor's heart races, a million questions running through her mind as she's escorted down to the sick bay. Is he seriously hurt? How long will his recovery be? What has he hurt? She hopes he's okay and that it's nothing minor. God she knows it'll kill him if he can't play for a while. He's as driven by his work as she is by hers, yet ironically his work is dangerous enough that the sport could take him out of the game entirely. It feels like it takes forever for her to reach him, but finally a door is opened and she's ushered inside to see him. She sees Travis sitting up on a bed, having his foot examined by some nurse, she's astounded his parents aren't even in here. She hurries to his beside, grabbing his hand and pressing a kiss to it.
"Hi, are you okay?" She asks, hearing the worry in her own voice.
"Oh yeah, I've never been better!" He grins "Right nurse?" He asks the woman examining his foot in a jokey tone. Taylor sees her smile and roll her eyes, she must see a lot of these guys come through with injuries who are all too eager to get back on the field asap.
"I'm serious Trav, that was quite a fall." She says softly, squeezing his hand as she takes a seat next to him.
"Tay I'm okay, it's probably just a sprained ankle. I'll be fine in a few days. If anything, my ego's a little bruised after having my super hot girlfriend watch me take a tumble." He jokes, and Taylor feels her cheeks getting warm.
"Travis!" She scolds, embarrassed by his words. Their banter is stopped there as the nurse begins to give him instructions.
"You're going to need to stay in here for at least half an hour with ice on your foot. And then please stay off the foot for 48 hours. Then you can work with your physio to get the strength back." She then leaves Travis and Taylor alone in the room.
"48 hours huh?" She asks him. "How will you cope sitting still for 48 hours?" She grins, leaning up to press a kiss to his cheek.
"I think I'll manage." He murmurs, bringing his face down to hers and kissing her properly. Every time their lips collide she feels like she's flying, she's so excited about him and the way he makes her feel.
The pair pull back shortly after their kiss began, remembering they're actually in a public space and not really wanting to be walked in on getting all hot and heavy.
"Are you sure you're okay?" She asks gently, running her thumb over the back of his hand.
"I'm sure, it's just a sprain, I've had way worse and recovered. Don't worry about me!" He gently tucks a piece of her hair behind her ear.
"I know, I know. I just want to make sure you aren't in any pain." She can't help but worry, when someone she cares about gets injured all she wants to do is take away their pain.
"Mmm why, would you kiss it better?" He asks, wiggling his eyebrows.
"Oh shut up!" She goes beet red. "Where are your parents?" She says in an effort to change the subject. "I assumed everyone would be down here checking on you."
