⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀THE COMFORTING SENSATION OF being at home with your favourite boy. Rain pelting every window, soft lighting making him appear even more divine. Slow songs are playing on the speaker as you watch your husband prepare dinner. He notices you from the island chairs and silently asks for your hand.
Jake kisses your hand as he takes your hand in his and stands up. He wraps his arms around you and shuffles around to the sound of a lovely song playing in the background. The two of you have been through hell and back in the last few days, but being in his embrace, smelling your husband's oh-so-familiar scent, grounds you.
He kisses the top of your head and stays there, taking in the moment. You two appear to be the only ones in the world. You're energized by your matching pyjamas and slow shuffling to songs. As the song ends, he stretches you out and tries to spin you. Jake, on the other hand, is clumsy and falls on his ass when you return to his arms. As he stands up, you both look at each other in shock and laugh maniacally.
Jake pouts, "Stop laughing, I'm seriously hurt."
"Why don't we finish dinner and then we can redo it," you laugh as you kiss his cheeks. "Does that sound right, love?"
He nods a visible pout still on his face. You continue to stir the pasta sauce when you feel Jake's arms snake around your waist to hug you. He places his chin on top of your shoulder. You two remain in comfortable silence for a while. You're so lucky to have Jake by your side, someone you can fall in love with every day.
