Vickie Yun was used to a lot of weird things happening at her place of work, even in her own private life. It is, after all, how life turns out when your best friend —because, yes, he is— and boss is Dr. Gregory House.

Still, when the assistant stood at the nurses station in the Clinic, her red, flowing velvet summer dress with white stitched on stars sticking out from between the white doctors coats and the blue and green scrubs, Vickie realised she could still be surprised.

She was sucking on a red lollipop, humming a mindless tune as her eyes scanned through a patient's file. House had yet to show up at work, which was unsurprising since it was only ten thirty —about an hour and a half after he was supposed to start. But, well, if he came in before noon Vickie would be happily surprised.

"Sarah?" The assistant called out, getting the attention of one of the nurses. She came walking over and Vickie continued, "Is Ms.Prentiss still here? I think we could schedule her for—"

"Vickie?"

Said woman turned around at the sound of her name, her eyes widening at the woman walking towards her. "Oh, my god," she whispered to herself in shock before slipping a bright grin onto her face, "Oh, my god! Stacy, hi!"

Said woman smiled and threw her arms around Vickie's shoulders in a light hug. The Yun woman was stunned to say the least. As the two part from the hug, Vickie can't help but blink at the woman, still in shock, "Not that it's not nice to see you, Stacy, but —uh, what are you doing here?"

Stacy bit her lip and let her eyes flit around the busy clinic, "Could we talk? Privately?"

"Sure." nodded Vickie and led the way towards one of the unoccupied exam rooms.

Eight years, Vickie's worked at Princeton Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. Of those eight years, two were spend in the company of Gregory House and his girlfriend, Stacy.

The three actually had a decent friendship going on. For someone in a committed relationship, Stacy had always been weirdly okay with Vickie crashing date nights or dragging House out of their apartment to either solve another case or just to hang out.

Then, of course, the leg thing happened.

And before anyone knew what was happening, Stacy was gone and House was limping with a cane while popping Vicodin. That just left Vickie, same as before and yet different.

Now, Stacy was Stacy Warner —a married attorney. Vickie knows this because she actually got a wedding invitation from the happy couple. She didn't go, of course, only send a gift as a congratulations.

So, yes, while not exactly on bad terms but certainly not on good ones, Vickie Yun was more than surprised to hear the words coming out of Stacy's mouth.

"I'm sorry, you want me to what?"

"He listens to you," said the attorney, still holding the file out towards Vickie. "Please, I'm desperate."

Vickie examined the woman in front of her. She had aged in the last five years. There were a few more grey hairs sticking out and a few new wrinkles added in her face, yet Stacy Warner still looked pretty as ever. There was just a sadness to her eyes, now.

Something that Vickie had seen before, in a situation not entirely different than this one.

Slowly, the assistant took the file from Stacy's hand and gave the barest nod of her head. "I'll see what I can do."
