a wide city avenue greeted them as they walked through the door. there were only one or two people on the streets which came off as a surprise seeing as how wide the streets were. a couple of pedestrians walked by, grumbling as they stared clearly on guard. kai-hung's glare only seemed to frighten them as they quickened their pace.

"play nice," hua-cheng spoke standing next to him before speaking to xie lian. "according to ancient records, when the moon sets, follow the direction of polaris and you'll find the half-moon kingdom." he pointed at the sky. "that's polaris."

xie lian looked up and smiled. "it's so bright."

kai-hung stepped closer to stand beside xie lian. he glanced at him, then looked up. "the northwestern night sky looks broader than that of the central plain."

"why are they here?" nan feng questioned.

"taoist magic is so amazing. i had to see it for myself," hua-cheng replied innocently.

"the door itself looked magical. i wanted to check it out. plus, i would hate for san lang and xie lian to leave me behind," kai-hung added.

"check it out? are we sight-seeing now?" nan feng snapped.

xie lian stepped in. "never mind. they're here anyway. we have enough food. san lang, kai-hung. just follow us. don't get lost."

"all right," san lang responded while kai-hung nodded.

"this isn't a matter of food."

"enough, nan feng. just forget it. let's go."

the five followed the polaris and traveled northward. after walking nonstop for an entire night, human life became more sparse and the ground gave way to sand. they had finally reached the gobi desert. the desert climate was completely different during the night versus the day. the nights tend to be far more freezing. however, during the day the scorching sun cast its rays down upon them while the sky remained cloudless.

xie lian led the way. after a while he looked back - a small laugh slipped from his lips as he slowed his pace until he walked alongside both hua-cheng and kai-hung.

"xie lian, we've been walking all night. can't we draw another teleportation formation?" hua-cheng asked.

he had peeled off his outer red tunic and was using it to block the sun, looking tired and cranky. kai-hung looked just as irritated.
