𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐅𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐍 ━ COEUR DE DANSEUR
he dances to the songs in his head and speaks with the rhythm of his heart━━━━━━━━━━
kai-hung harbored an intense disdain for mortals and the searing heat that currently plagued his existence. to him, they were two sides of the same wretched coin, each possessing qualities that made his immortal existence utterly unbearable.
mortals, with their fleeting lives and limited understanding, were a constant source of frustration for kai-hung. their feeble attempts at comprehending their complexities of the universe only served to highlight their insignificance in his eyes. their incessant bickering, their insatiable desires, and their relentless pursuit of power and wealth were all reminders of their inherit flaws.
kai-hung saw them as mere insects scurrying about, oblivious to the grandeur and magnificence that lay beyond their limited perception. their ignorance and arrogance grateful on his patience, fueling his detestation for their kind.
yet, it was not just mortals that kai-hung despised; the scorching heat of the sun was equally loathsome to him. as an immortal being, he was impervious to most physical discomforts, but the relentless heat of the sun was an exception. its fiery rays seemed to penetrate his very essence, causing an unbearable burning sensation that no amount of power or magic could alleviate.
the scorching heat was a constant reminder of his vulnerability, a weakness that he despised with every fiber of his being. in the realm of mortals, kai-hung found himself trapped in a world that was both physically and emotionally unbearable. the mortals' ignorance and the scorching heat were inextricably intertwined, amplifying his disdain for both. the mortals' feeble attempts at understanding the universe only served to remind him of his own vulnerability, while the scorching heat intensified his frustration and discomfort.
kai-hung longed for a world where mortals were enlightened, where their understanding matched the vastness of the universe. he yearned for a respite from the scorching heat, a reprieve from the constant reminder of his own limitations. until then, he would continue to detest mortals and the scorching heat equally, finding solace only in the knowledge that his immortal existence surpassed their fleeting lives and the unbearable heat that plagued him. of course, there was always the option of burning everything down but kai-hung would save that option for later.
they had eventually run into a caravan of merchants passing through the desert accompanied by, a-zhao, a local guide or so they claimed. which is how they all found themselves outside of the cave - the sandstorm having passed.
hua-cheng stood by his side, a constant companion he was acutely conscious of, their presence intertwining like the threads of a tapestry. in every step he took, hua-cheng mirrored his movements, their synchronicity a testament to the unbreakable bond they shared. whether in moments of triumph or despair, hua-cheng remained steadfast, a pillar of support that never wavered.
their connection went beyond mere friendship; it was a deep-rooted kinship that transcended the boundaries of time and space. hua-cheng seemed to possess an innate understanding of his thoughts and emotions, as if they were two halves of a whole. they communicated without words, their unspoken language weaving a tapestry of trust and understanding.
in the darkest of nights, when the weight of the world threatened to crush his spirit, hua-cheng's presence was a beacon of light that guided him through the storm. with a gentle touch or a reassuring glance, hua-cheng had the power to calm the raging tempest within him, offering solace and strength when he needed it most.
but it wasn't just in times of turmoil that hua-cheng proved his unwavering loyalty. in moments of joy and celebration, he was there, sharing in the triumphs and victories as if they were his own. hua-cheng's unwavering support and genuine happiness for his success were a constant reminder of the depth of their connection.
hua-cheng's presence was a source of comfort and strength, a reminder that he was never alone in his journey. their shared experiences, laughter, and tears created a tapestry of memories. hua-cheng was more than just a companion; he was a confidant, a protector, and a guiding light that illuminated his path.
as time passed, their bond only grew stronger, their connection deepening with each passing day. hua-cheng's unwavering loyalty and unwavering support were constants in a world that was ever-changing. together, they navigated the complexities of life, their souls intertwined in a dance that defied explanation.
"how is your hand?" xie lian questioned, voice filled with concern.
"it'll be fine so please, don't worry."
his words only seemed to worry xie lian more. after all being stung by a scorpion tailed snake wasn't something to be taken lightly. even now as xie lian worried over him, kai-hung couldn't help but be reminded of the first time he met the man.
xie lian, even in his role as the crown prince, viewed him not merely as a dancer who provided amusement to others, but as a master of movement and expression, a conduit of emotions and stories. his graceful steps and fluid gestures were not just a means of entertainment, but a form of art that captivated hearts and stirred souls.
xie lian recognized the depth and skill behind every twirl and hip movement, understanding that the dancer's body was a vessel through which narratives were told, histories were preserved, and dreams were realized. he saw the dedication and discipline that went into perfecting each routine, the countless hours spent honing technique and mastering the intricacies of the craft.
during the nights when they would lay together, xie lian told him that he was not just a performer, but a storyteller who wove tales with every movement. even going as far as seeing the way the kai-hung's eyes sparkled with passion, the way his body effortlessly conveyed joy, sorrow, and everything in between. his very essence was intertwined with the art form - spirit shining through every step.
in the eyes of xie lian, kai-hung was not a mere dancer, but a source of inspiration and admiration. he recognized the power of dance to transcend language and cultural barriers, to touch hearts and evoke emotions that words alone could not express. his performances were not just fleeting moments of amusement, but transformative experiences that left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to witness them.
xie lian's appreciation for the dancer went beyond the surface level, delving into the profound connection between art and the human experience. his perspective on the dancer was a testament to his own depth of character and appreciation for the arts. it was one of the many things kai-hung adored about xie lian. his ability to see someone for who they truly were.
"we should continue on our way to the banyue ruins and search for the shanyue fern." xie lian turned to address the merchants. "in order to reach banyue as soon as possible, i want to borrow your guide temporarily, if that's all right."
the merchants agreed and nodded. "as long as a-zhao is willing to go with you."
the guide nodded in agreement. "the banyue ruins are actually not hard to get to. just keep going in this direction and you'll reach them."
after bidding the merchants farewell, a-zhao took the lead with the others following right behind him.
