"I have a surprise for you," Hound says as he stands in the door of your apartment, clothed in a thick mantle, a scarf, a beanie and some gloves. "But you should dress warmly."

"Well, hello to you too," you smile at him, surprised by his visit. Normally, he calls when he comes over, but it seems like this is spontaneous.

"Oh... Hi!" he smiles at you, a little bit lost. You shake your head playfully and grab your shoes and a winter coat.

"Where are we going?" you ask as you walk down the stairs with him.

"That's the surprise!" he smirks at you with a mischievous grin before he grabs your hand in his.

The cold air of the late afternoon makes your warm breath cloudy. Small, lonely snowflakes fall down on you, barely adding to the new layer of snow.

"Where's Grizzer?" you ask him, a little bit concerned. You've rarely seen him without the massiff.

"She's with Fox. He promised me to look after her," he says, and your eyebrows raise, almost touching your hairline.

"She's with Fox? Aren't you scared she comes back traumatized?" you ask jokingly.

"Nah, he isn't with the chancellor today. He's doing some paperwork. She'll probably sleep the whole day and enjoy her well-deserved day of vacation," he tells you.

"Oh? And you don't?" you ask him, looking up at him.

"Hm, I think spending it with you is the best way to do it," he says with a wide smile.

You notice the heat rising to your cheeks and try to ignore it.

After some walking and sweet small talk, he suddenly stops and pulls you in front of him.

"What are you doing?" you ask, looking up at him.

"Do you trust me?" he wants to know, playing with your fingers.

"Of course," you nod, grabbing his hands.

"Okay," he murmurs, "Turn around."

You do as he says, closing your eyes as he carefully lifts his hand up to cover them.

"Don't peek!" he says before slowly taking step after step forward. He walks you through the streets for a few minutes and comes to a sudden halt.

"You ready?" he whispers in your ear.

"Yeah," you nod.

As he slowly lifts his hands, you have to blink against the light before focusing on the thing in front of you.

At first sight, it looks like a huge heap of snow, but as you take a closer look, you identify it as a small cave-like thing. It looks like a half-circle made out of snow. In front of it are several colorful pillows that look very comfortable and a small campfire that illuminates the place.

"An igloo?" you ask excitedly, jumping a little bit on the spot.

"More like a half... or quarter igloo. There wasn't enough snow for the whole thing. Do you still like it?" he asks, stepping around you.

"No," you shake your head, trying to look at him seriously. As his face drops, you start to grin, swing your arms around his neck, and hug him.

"I love it, Hound!" you assure him. Your smile widens as you feel him exhale relieved. "Of course I love it. It's perfect," you smile, pulling him with you towards his creation.

You sit down on the pillows and blankets together. While you cuddle up on his chest and put your legs sideways above his, he lays his arms around you, holding you tightly.

"Are you hungry?" he asks after a while, already pulling out a small picnic basket from somewhere.

"You brought food?" you ask, touched.

"Mhm," he nods, passing you an empty cup, filling it up with a hot drink, and repeating it for himself.

After that, he pulls out some snacks. Marshmallows to roast over the fire, chocolate-coated strawberries, but also some salty snacks. Happily, you two start to roast some of the white and pink sweets, share some of the fruits, and drink some of the hot cup.

"Did I forget something?" you ask after a while. You're kind of speechless and so touched by this surprise. The amount of thoughts, effort and time he had to invest in this had to be a lot.

"No, I... I just wanted to do something nice for you," he begins. "You're always doing lovely little things for me. Thought I could return the favor," he smiles.

"Oh, Hound... That is so kind and lovely of you... Thank you so much!" you say, giving him a kiss. His lips taste sweet and fresh, with a hint of chocolate.

Savoring his flavor, you pull yourself closer to him, almost sitting in his lap.

When you part from one another, you look into each other's eyes for a long time, feeling the building tension between you. Hound's eyes have a happy spark in them, and their brown reflects the flames of the fire, adding a pretty glint to them.

"I love you," you murmur after some time. You're close enough to each other to be able to slightly touch his nose with yours.

"And I love you," Hound whispers. You feel the movement of his lips against yours. Goosebumps spread across your whole body, and butterflies are having a huge dance party in your stomach.

You feel excited, warm and loved.

Happy, you close your eyes and press your lips against Hound's again, hoping to never miss this feeling again in your life.
