As the three were walking through the woods Scott looked over at Liana his beta who was somehow a were-cheetah the first ever. He had been so out of his depth with her it had been comical. He had had no idea how to get through to her. Eventually through a lot of work at being her friend and showing her that she wasn't a monster or a freak he had managed to get to a place where they were quite close.

One thing they both had in common was a history of shit luck and since it had been quiet for the past six months and no one was trying to kill them right now Scott had a bad feeling that something was going to happen.

As lightning crackled across the sky, Liana and Scott looked at each other and then glanced at Stiles who was walking in front of them. Liana groaned "Stiles, you are my alpha's best friend so I am restraining from hitting you but I seriously don't feel like being rained on or being struck by lightning so can we go?"

Scott snorted and agreed with his beta "yeah, I don't know what you're looking for Stiles but I don't think we're finding it here."  Stiles rolled his eyes but reluctantly agreed and all three headed back to the jeep that Liana was one hundred percent sure was held together by duct tape.

As they drove back from the woods, the jeep broke down and Stiles along with Scott got out to check and fix it with to Liana's shock literal duct tape. Liana jumped in the front seat while they were fixing it to start the engine when they told her to. The second time Liana started the engine and it didn't start she rolled her eyes.

A minute later, she felt the hair on the back of her neck stand up. She almost felt like she was being watched but she had no idea who was watching her. She slowly turned to the direction that her instincts were telling her the creepy feeling was coming from and saw nothing. She sighed before willing her eyes to turn amber activating her cheetah side or part of it.

With her enhanced eyesight she scanned the woods for something or someone who was watching her but again didn't see anything. The blonde was brought out of her thoughts when Stiles spoke "try the engine again." Liana nodded and turned the key, smiling when the engine roared to life. She got in the back as the other two with her got in again and they headed away from the woods oblivious to the figure that was watching them.

*************

As the jeep ambled away a figure appeared from behind a large tree. His eyes glowed gold signifying a beta wolf but he wasn't a normal wolf. His eyes turned back to normal as he looked in the direction that the jeep had vanished. "Interesting," he muttered with a small smirk. "The beta isn't a wolf." He filed that away for later before his smirk turned predatory "Scott McCall, I'll be seeing you soon." He turned around and walked away knowing that his plan had changed a bit.

Once Liana, Scott, and Stiles get to the hospital Scott finds his mother who tells them that Liana's step-father is still in surgery. Scott turned to his beta "stay here while we go to Senior Scribe. You are one of the strongest betas that me or Derek have ever seen. We trust you with Melissa and with your control."

Liana nodded glad to have Scott's support and his trust. Scott pulled away and once again tried to call Kira but she didn't answer. Scott turned to look at his best friend and his beta "I'm worried, I still can't get in contact with Kira."

Stiles shrugged "have you talked to her much since she left for New York?"

"No." Stiles, Liana, and Malia who had just walked in looked at each other. Scott noticed their looks "what?"

Stiles bit the bullet "maybe you left the door open for Kira to meet someone else."

"How," Scott looked confused making Liana facepalm at her alpha's stupidity when it comes to girls.
