Brock walked up the path to the front door, smiling faintly to himself. He and Brian had gotten engaged the week before, and had yet to tell their friends. At least, until now. That was the whole reason why they were there.

Brian was running late, having a meeting with the hospital director. He and Ria were training to become doctors, though Brian wanted to specialize in childhood cancer.

Brock hadn't decided what he wanted to do. He had no experiences with anything or anyone, and even with this last year of traveling, he wanted to know more. He never went to school, he never got to make friends outside of Jon and Brian until they escaped, and he never got to experience life as a normal person did.

Evan flew down and landed in front of him, hair windblown and cheeks flushed. "Hey Brock! What brings you here and where's Brian?" He asked breathlessly, his wings shaking out before sinking into his skin.

"He's still at a meeting, he should be here in about an hour. I just wanted to get here early, today's the monthly dinner right?" He asked and Evan's eyes widened.

"Oh fuck it is, isn't it. Jon was even telling me about it this morning, fuck I'm an idiot. Yeah, Marcel and Kris have been preparing for it all day, they're probably in the kitchen with Jon now," he said and Brock nodded.

He said his goodbyes and went to go find the others, smiling at everyone around him. They all stared at him as if he was some kind of celebrity, which never failed to make him feel awkward. He wasn't anything that special.

He went into the kitchen and found the three cooking, or rather Marcel and Kris cooking while Jon followed and tasted everything behind them.

The shark noticed him and lit up, moving to jump on Brock with a tight hug. "Hi!" He squealed, making Brock laugh as he hugged him back.

"Hey Brock, you here to save the food?" Marcel asked amused and Brock laughed. "Well, I was here to see how things were going, but sure, I can save the food. Let me guess, hungry sharks?" He asked and Marcel rolled his eyes.

"He's been asking for a cheeseburger," he said amused and Jon grinned. "Kris makes the best fucking burgers though!" He defended himself and Marcel shrugged.

"That's no lie, but we're not making burgers," he said and Jon stuck his tongue out at him. "Come on Jon, let's go see what Evan's up to," Brock said amused and Jon nodded, perking up immediately.

They left and headed back outside, waving to Tyler and Kelly as they passed them in the hall. They saw some of their other friends, all chatting with other manifested as most of them didn't live in the building.

Evan, Jon, Jaren and John were the only ones who lived in the building full time. Most of their friends had scattered around the state, a couple going further. Brian and Brock had moved to Utah, which was only a couple states away from where they'd bought the building in South Dakota.

When Brock and Jon walked outside, Brock sent a faint pulse of power to Evan. The Owl turned in the air and lit up, diving down at a near straight line before pulling up into an easy landing in front of them. He jogged to a stop and pulled Jon into a kiss, grinning at Brock.

"Marcel asked me to save the food, so have a hungry shark," Brock said amused and Evan rolled his eyes, grinning at Jon.

"Babe, I told you not to go eat all the food," he said amused and Jon smiled innocently. "I didn't eat all of it, I was just taste testing," he said and Evan rolled his eyes.

Brock felt a faint pulse and looked over, heart warming at the sight of Brian rushing up the pathway. "You two are disgustingly in love," Jon complained and Brock just raised an eyebrow at the way Jon was tucked into Evan's side.
