The two women enter the next room of the underground exam. It seems to be a square room with a closed door on the other end, and an orangey metallic structure in the centre. The structure has a square base and goes up for two steps, and ends in a pyramid shape.
Savyna- Disgusting copper.
Kaen- Actually it looks more like an alloy...
Savyna- An alloy ?
Kaen- Yeah basically it's not pure copper it's been mixed with-
Savyna- I know what a fucking alloy is, how the fuck do you know what it is ?
Kaen, with a smile- My dad's a blacksmith.
Savyna- Your... "dad" ?
Kaen- I mean, my adoptive dad. I mean, the fourth one.
Savyna- Fourth ?... What happened to the other three ?
Kaen- Well Ortelius and Maximilien are just kind of busy all the time, and, well, Theodore... I never got to spend a lot of time with him, he died when I was eight.
Savyna- Ortelius !? Ortelius Peridor ? As in, the headmaster of the Citadelle and member of the Council of Six that governs the whole lyune territory, is your "first" adoptive father ?
Kaen- Yeah why ?
Savyna- ... Nothing... So this alloy tower thing, what is it and what's the point.
Kaen- I don't know yet. Can you check the door ?
Savyna starts walking to the closed door, but passing by the metallic obelisk, she sees engravings on the top and stops to look. Kaen sees Savyna interested in the tower, and approaches to see it as well. The engravings are etched into the metal and form two main symbols. Savyna notices Kaen.
Savyna, very focused- Give me a minute, I'm transcribing.
Kaen, calm- This ? It says "Open me."
Savyna drops her concentration and stares at Kaen in complete disbelief.
Savyna- You ? You read runes ? Just like that ? How ? Why ? What the.. Who even are you ? Why am I even trying ... *deep breath* What's in it ?
Kaen, confused- I don't know... ?
Savyna, frustrated- Don't you have shadow magic ? Just look inside !
Kaen- Oh right !
Kaen starts concentrating on the inside of the obelisk, while Savyna turns her attention to the door. It looks similar to the other doors, with one of those half spherical holes. This one seems a little bigger than the ones on the double door from the previous room. She turns back to Kaen as she is standing back up.
Kaen- There's-
Savyna- A sphere. Stand back.
Kaen- Yeah, how did you-
Savyna, sharply- I said, stand back.
Kaen takes a step backwards, and Savyna immediately starts making a flaming jet from her hands towards the metal. Kaen is taken by surprise and just looks at the flames, almost scared. Savyna, serious, drops the fire and steps closer to the now softened metal.
Savyna- Open that.
Kaen- What ? It looks red-hot !
Savyna just stares at Kaen, serious and tired.
Kaen-.. Oh !
And Kaen makes a tentacles from the ground and uses it to push the top of the metallic tower. It bends, stretches and eventually rips open, revealing a white pearl. Savyna grabs the sphere and puts it in the door hole. It rumbles like before and the door opens.
