The marketplace you had picked out was full of hospitable locals and a few other pirate types who were all congregating around the one bar near the docks. It was the perfect place for you to take your high-priced captain to mess around for the day, resupply, and get some good night's sleep in someplace other than on the Going Merry.

You weaved in and out of the shadows, looking at all the shops and booths from a distance until you found one you were certain you wanted to leave the safety of the shadows to look at. One such shop was full of books upon books. With the little money you had collected, you bought a romance about a siren and her forbidden land lover and two books full of legends about the Grand Line.

You hoped the books about the Grand Line would be of some use to your captain, seeing as your crew was slowly heading that way. The Grand Line was the one place you new little about and it frustrated you to no end, so you collected anything and everything on it.

Once you had paid, you ducked back into the shadows, easily making your way to where you had last left Usopp and Sanji, who had been picking through various types of wheats. It was easy enough to find the pair, Sanji sticking out like a sore thumb amongst the shorter locals.

You came up behind Sanji as silently as you could as he looked over the new booth he was at--potatoes now. It had been your goal as of late to try and go unnoticed by the man, to try and be able to sneak up on him. You had been failing miserably.

"Hi." You said, popping up between the two men. And just as you predicted, Sanji was not at all phased by your sudden appearance. Usopp, on the other hand, gave a shout that was a bit on the high-pitched side. A shout which, in turn, scared the poor woman selling potatoes.

Almost instantly you wanted to duck back into the shadows, but you stayed, giving a small apology to the woman who was staring your way wide-eyed, clutching her heart like she'd have a heart attack. Staring at you like you were some apparition.

On top of trying to scare Sanji, you had been trying to leave the safety of your shadows so you could be around him more. Even simple things like reading on the kitchen island stool instead of up in your nook so you could be closer to him while he cooked.

Not that Sanji truly minded you staying in your shadows, even having said so himself. He had been more than happy to duck into them and kiss you silly while the others were turned around or off to their own devices. He had even at one point tried to climb up into one of your hiding spots in the rafters to sit with you, his long legs dangling off the sides giving away both of your positions to Nami who had only whacked his foot as she passed.

"You're going to crack your skull trying to fit up there. You're no Y/N." She'd said before moving deeper within the inner workings of the Merry. Sanji had smiled widely down at you, grabbing you up in his arms and pulling you into his lap as best he could.

"There is no other Y/N. You're too perfect to replicate." And he'd kissed you like he could try and feed you his adoration.

The kisses--gods the kisses and the little touches and the cuddles and the praise were going to be the death of you. Sanji had been true to his word on that. Any time you were alone, or just out of earshot of the crew, he was showering you in affection.

You loved it. Couldn't get enough of it. Of him.

"I--I saw you there, Y/N...yeah. I just did that to make you feel better--'cause I saw you standing there this whole time." Usopp said, lying through his teeth. He cleared his throat and pulled a crooked smile as he played off his scared nature for that of the suave confidence he so often wore. "No one can scare the Great Captian Usopp."
