Only gets better from here

I reached for the phone, it's half past three and I'm thinking about your lips-
the way they touched mine while your hands memorized the number of hairs on my head-
Not when you took those same hands and wrapped them around my throat.
Just like mine are wrapped around the phone, dialing your number.
Then I feel her stir beside me and look over to see the child asleep and oh-so-innocent; oblivious to war beyond her eyes of protective ignorance.
Her hair, thick layers of raven black petals laid out on the pellow surrounding her head like a dark halo.
Sleep swollen rose lips, parted with small drops of drool leading from her tiny mouth onto the white sheets-
Different than the ones you once slept on-
A porcelain pug nose, wrinkling as stray blanket feathers tickle her pale skin.
She's not an angel- no -but only because she carries the Devils blood. Your blood.
But still, she is still my savior. So I'll put down the phone, I'll give her a kiss on one of her chubby cheeks-
Still filled with baby fat,
and I'll save my heart from one more shatter while keeping your handprints off my skin.
She cannot be an angel. Not with your tar black DNA coursing through her blue veins.
But she saved me, so by God, she has proved that dark angels save too.
