When she arrived at class, Eve felt lonely and held back tears because Caden was no longer sitting next to her. Suddenly someone approached her.
Eve looked up as someone approached her, interrupting her thoughts. She saw a girl with long, curly hair and bright blue eyes.
"Hi there," the girl said, smiling. "I'm Clair Vivienne. I noticed you looked a bit lost. Are you new here?"
Eve shook her head. "No, I've been here for a while. I'm just feeling a bit...lonely, I guess."
Clair's smile faded a bit. "I know how that feels. I transferred here a few months ago, and it was tough at first. But I've made some great friends since then."
Eve looked at her, intrigued. "Really? How did you do it?"
Clair shrugged. "I joined some clubs, talked to people in my classes. It takes a bit of effort, but it's worth it."
Eve nodded, feeling a bit more hopeful. "Thanks for the advice. I'm Eve, by the way."
Clair smiled again. "Nice to meet you, Eve. Maybe we can hang out sometime?"
Eve felt a surge of gratitude towards this kind stranger. "I'd like that," she said, smiling back.
"Hey, do you mind if we sit next to each other in class?" Clair asked Eve, gesturing to the empty seat next to her. "I usually sit alone, and it would be nice to have some company."
Eve smiled, feeling a sense of relief. "Sure, that sounds great."
Clair beamed at her and they moved their desks together. As they chatted about their interests and hobbies, Eve felt a sense of connection with Clair. It was nice to have someone to talk to during class, and she found herself looking forward to spending more time with her new friend.
As the class ended, Clair turned to Eve. "Hey, do you want to grab lunch together? There's a great sandwich place down the street."
Eve nodded eagerly. "That sounds perfect."
As they walked out of the classroom together, Eve felt grateful for this unexpected friendship. Maybe things were starting to look up after all.
"Bonjour, je voudrais un sandwich au poulet, s'il vous plaît," Clair said to the cashier, her accent flawless. "Et pour toi, Eve?"
Eve looked at the menu, feeling a bit overwhelmed. "Um, je ne sais pas...Qu'est-ce que tu recommandes?"
Clair turned to the cashier. "Elle va prendre la même chose que moi," she said, smiling at Eve. "Et je voudrais aussi une limonade, s'il vous plaît."
The cashier nodded and began preparing their order. As they waited for their food, Clair turned back to Eve. "So, what do you like to do for fun?" she asked.
Eve shrugged. "I don't know, read, watch movies, that kind of thing. What about you?"
Clair's eyes lit up. "I love to dance."
As they finished their lunch, Clair and Eve chatted about their favorite movies and TV shows, exchanging recommendations and opinions. Eve was surprised at how easy it was to talk to Clair, and how quickly they had become friends.
As they left the sandwich place, Clair turned to Eve. "Hey, do you want to come over to my house later and watch a movie or something?"
Eve felt a rush of excitement at the idea of hanging out with Clair more. "Yeah, that sounds great," she said, smiling. "What time should I come over?"
