The brisk click of Aaron Hotchner's shoes echoed through the narrow hallway as he stormed towards Erin Strauss's office.

The news of a new addition to his team, particularly the choice of Agent Harper Alexander Steele, had ignited a fire within him. His authority had been ignored once again, and the simmering anger threatened to explode.

Entering Strauss's office without a knock,

Hotchner found her behind her desk, composed and unyielding.

"Strauss," he began, his voice edged with frustration, "why was a new member added to my team without my approval?"

Strauss met his gaze coolly. "Hotchner, we needed someone with Agent Steele's unique skills. She brings a wealth of experience and achievements."

Hotchner scowled, his jaw tightening.

"This is unacceptable. Not only will it increase our costs, but I don't need the added responsibility of training another agent. Why wasn't I consulted?"

Strauss leaned back, unfazed by Hotchner's mounting anger. "Agent Steele is a valuable asset. You either get on board or find yourself another team."

His fists clenched at his sides, and Hotchner took a deep breath, struggling to compose himself. Leaving the team was not an option,

especially after losing Gideon and Elle.

The weight of responsibility pressed on his shoulders, a burden he carried silently. He couldn't shake the guilt for not recognizing Elle's struggles with her mental health,

a factor that allegedly contributed to her incomprehensible but,

in some twisted way,

justified actions.

In his mind, suspicions were never confirmed, but the nagging feeling lingered.

He thought, "Not again. I can't let the team lose someone else, not when things were just getting back to normal."

The echoes of past losses haunted him, amplifying his resolve to protect those he still had.

The internal dialogue continued,

a silent battle against the demons of the past and the uncertain challenges that lay ahead.

He chose to back down, but the resentment burned within him.

Storming out of Strauss's office, Hotchner walked through the bullpen, past the concerned faces of Morgan, Reid, and Emily.

Rossi observed from his office window, a knowing look in his eyes.

Garcia tried to catch Hotchner's attention with a question,

" Hotch I would like to kn-"

but his sharp glare silenced her.

As Hotchner retreated to his office, the team gathered in hushed discussion.

Emily and Reid exchanged worried glances, knowing the storm that had just passed.

Derek, always ready to confront, voiced their shared concerns.

"What's going on with Hotch? Why was he storming into Strauss's office like that?"

Emily sighed. "Looks like we have a new team member, and Hotch is not happy about it."

Back in his office, Hotchner shut the blinds, shutting himself off from prying eyes.

He mulled over his options, realizing that working with Harper Alexander Steele was a prospect he couldn't fathom.

Hotch unable to grappling with the unsettling reality of this new dynamic, uncertain about how to navigate the clash of wills that will undeniably happen once she arrives.
