Marshall's POV

It was now just gone 1am and I was pulled out of my light sleep by my phone ringing.

Without checking the caller ID, I clicked the answer button and immediately recognised my two youngest's voices, Whitney and Hailie.

Their voices muffled by them talking over and interrupting eachother.

"Girls you're gonna have to slow down, I can't tell a word you're sayin' to me."

"You're adopting her? You didn't think we'd want a call to let us kno-" Hailie began but was cut off by Whit.

"I haven't even got a call to say I have a sister. You always do this, "oh my precious babies Lainie, Hailie guess what" and I get nothing dad. Nothing. You're such an asshole." Damn that was a fucking low blow, she couldn't take after me any more if she tried.

"Ay Whit, firstly don't talk to me like that and secondly Hai said she'd tell you 'bout Jess and I was gonna let you guys know about the adoption but Alaina obviously beat me to it. So take a deep breath and calm your ass down."

"I do got a point though." Whit said sarcastically through the other end of the phone.

"Be careful what tone you use with me little lady or I'll -"

"Alright, that's enough. Talk tomorrow dad, love you." Hailie interrupted me, clearly knowing that me and Whit were about to argue.

"Hailie Jade don't you dare hang up this pho-"

Man I love 'em but those girls sure can piss me off. How much worse can this night get?

I'm pissed at myself for not knowing 'bout Jess sooner, I'm pissed at Whit for giving me attitude, I'm pissed at Hai for hanging up on me and now I'm fuckin' gonna stress about what Whit really thinks 'bout me after what she just said.

A/N - just a super small bonus/filler chapter. As said previously there is only 4 main chapters left so I'm taking my time to write them and figure out exactly where I want to leave off with this book, ready to start the sequel.
