When school was over, Bella and I walked out into the parking lot to our cars. I made sure that I didn't look in the direction of Luke and his friends, but I could still hear them laughing. There were a few whistles and cat calls, but I refused to give in.
I opened the door to my coupe and turned to Bella.
"Hey Bells I'm gonna just grab pizza then meet you back at my house. "
"Alright, sounds good. I might be a bit late, I have to run home first. " She replied.
I gave her a quick nod and slid into my seat, slamming the door. After putting the car into reverse I took a quick look out of my rear view mirror.
He was standing there, broad shoulders and all. I was pretty sure he could see me looking at him, because I swore he winked at me. We had this moment of silent communication.
You'll never get to me.
Challenge excepted.
A crooked smile played on his lips as I roled my eyes and pulled out of my parking space.
I replayed today's events in my mind as I drove to the pizza parlor. There was allot of confusion with the whole situation. Why would Luke pick me out? I mean yeah I wasn't fond of the guy but I don't think I actually hated him. And what exactly does he mean by greatest challenge?
I was getting a headache so I refused to think about it anymore. Luke wasn't going to get to me, I wouldn't let him.
I turned on my music and sang along to my favorite song of the week that just so happened to be playing on a local station.
I pulled into the parking lot of the pizza parlor and locked my doors.
Opening the parlor door, a light ring from a bell above the doorway sounded.
As I approached the counter I could hear muffled yelling coming from the back. I waited patiently for someone to take my order.
After the yelling stopped I could hear footsteps coming around the corner. Bright blue hair was the first thing I saw, with none other than Michael Clifford scowling below it. I tried to be polite by smiling at him but all I got was a straight face.
"What can I get you. "
"Umm, just one pepperoni to go please."
He silently typed into the computer, took my money, and placed my order. Since I had a few minutes to wait, I figured that I should make light conversation with Michael, maybe would let something about Luke slip out.
"So, I didn't know you worked here? "
He looked up at me frowning.
"I didn't, I just started this last weekend."
"Oh, are you saving up for college? I know I need to." I laughed, trying to lighten the mood.
"No, I probably won't be going to college, my parents won't pay for my last car to be fixed until I show them I'm responsible." He finished making quotation marks with his hands.
"Oh I'm sorry, well hopefully they'll fix it soon." I gave him a weak smile.
He grunted and looked down, pulling out his phone.
I sighed and walked over to one of the tables and sat down. Michael wasn't much of a talker unless it was with his friends, so I wasn't going to push him further.
A minute or two later a hear a few other cars pull up to the pizza parlor. I didn't bother looking up from my phone, even when they walked through the door.
That is, until I heard that familiar chuckle.
