LEO PASSED US SOME SANDWICHES from his pack. He'd been quiet ever since we had told him what happened in the throne room. "I still can't believe Khione," he said. "She looked so nice."
"Trust me, man," Jason said. "Snow may be pretty, but up close it's cold and nasty. We'll find you a better prom date."
I felt the eyes of Jason and Piper on my back. I turned around and they both at the same time smiled. Jason had a mischievous look in his eyes. 'Stop', I mouth at them and turned back around.
We ate our sandwiches as we flew. I had no idea how Leo had stocked up on supplies.
Nobody talked. Whatever we might find in Chicago, we all knew Boreas had only let us go because he figured we were already on a suicide mission.
The moon rose and stars turned overhead.
I yawned, but made sure I stayed awake. I didn't really want to sleep on a dragon. I could fall, and also I had no where to lean on which can make me fall.
I yawned again closing my eyes a little. My head bob down and I immediately opened my eyes.
"You can lean on to be if you want," Leo turned his head to face me.
I smiled. "Really, you would let me."
He shrugs. "It's not a big deal."
I leaned onto his shoulder. "Is this okay?"
I heard him take a breath. "Yeah, yeah, it's fine."
I laughed slightly closing my eyes and falling asleep.
My dream wasn't all great. It wasn't bad, but it was confusing. I dreamt of my powers. The power that I have hidden because last time I used it many died because of it.
"When will you let it out, my son."
I turned around seeing a women with long red hair as straight as a blade, with pure spirit white eyes of the damed that died in war and a crazy sinister smile. Her body is military like with a lean figure and strong biceps. She is wearing a black and red 2 piece bathing suit and a titanium see through sash in front of it. She also keep a dagger strapped to her leg and an iron sword around her waist.
"Mother," I said tilting my head.
She smiled at me. "Ohh how much you have grown." She walked closer to me. "You look so much like your father." She cups my face, "oh so much."
"Why are you here?" I asked.
"I am no where, son," she pulled away from me, her eyes turning a little darker. "I did not grant you the power you have just for you to never use it. It does not have to be now in this quest, but I will be damned if you don't use it."
I gulp at her serious tone. "I can't"
"You can and you will," her face was calm but her voice said she was otherwise. "You need to put everything in the past Alister. They are gone, they have died in battle bravely and they wouldn't have done that if you did give them that rage for all they have been through."
"I shouldn't have done it."
"But you did anyways and you have to live with it but know that it is over. There is nothing you can do now. They are gone—"
"They wouldn't be gone if it wasn't for me."
"That is war," her voice echoed. "War is all about death, fighting, victories, loses, destruction. That is war. There has yet to be a peaceful war and do not even think for a second there will be one like that. People die every day, people will die in every war. Death is something that happens—"
"They wouldn't have died if it wasn't for me—"
"You can not stop death, Alister!" My mother shook with anger. "Do not think for a second you can. That is not what I am a god of. If I was your father will still be here, alive and well. I would have kept him safe."
"You gods don't keep anyone but yourself safe."
"Alister, do not speak of things you do not know of. You do not know what it is like to be a god. To have all these responsibilities, to be perfect to the world."
I raised my eyebrow. "While you do all the responsibilities and have to be perfect to the world. I, and many others, have to fight for you guys because you can't do it on your own."
"I have fought! I have fought so many times, for so many years. I cannot do everything, Alister. Your father understood that. Why can't you?"
"I happen to not be a mortal like my father. I was being attacked every second of my life and you were never there yet he still loved you and protected me. He died saving that damn stayr and I. He didn't have to learn to protect me if you were there. He wouldn't have died if you were there!"
My mother looked at me her eyes getting brighter by the minute. "Your father understood the precautions and he did not care. He protected you and someone he didn't know out of the kindness of his heart! You are alive and well because of him. I didn't have to protect you because he was there. I trusted him with my sons life and I tend to have kept it that way. You wouldn't be in camp half blood. You would have been at home with your father fighting all the monster that came your way. Your father was blinded by the prophecies. He believed that you would be the one to save the world." My mother took a breath putting her hand on her heart.
"Your father means more to me than you think, Alister. He is my everything. He did his duty as a father and protected you until the end of his life. Now I will perform my duty. It is my turn to protect you, whether you like it or not. I gave you my power for a reason, no other of my kids have a power like yours. You will have to use it. This quest is only the beginning."
She looked at me her eyes narrowing.
"You don't believe me, do you?" She asked frowning.
"I never said that," I said crossing my arms.
She grabbed my hand. "You are a lot stronger than you think, protecter. You are my son. A fighter. Someone who will never back down. We did not name you Alister for no reason. You will make all battle less intense, but beware son, they will aim at you because of it. You are my only son and I will not lose you now."
She touched my necklaces. She touched my necklace that was a pearl which turned into my sword. Then my necklace that was from camp half blood. She smiled then pulled away.
"Careful, you cannot fly."
"What."
