SEUNGMIN'S POV:
It was finally happening..!
For context, there's a very well-known band in our school and they're called "Straykids". They've been around for about 4-5 years now. I might not know much of the members' names, but I've heard word about their musical hits and trends.
For the past few months I've been contemplating if I should start making my musical interests more than just a hobby. So when I first heard the news of Straykids, it was a perfect opportunity for me to start composing and releasing music like I've always wanted too. This band might actually be my gateway to being a musician.
So just a few hours ago I contacted the band leader through an email, I think his name was Bahng Chan. But anywho, we discussed online about a few matters. Apparently I need to submit him a questionnaire. It just contained information such as; band position/roles, what instruments I can play- the basic questions relating to what my skills are.
In the end, he said yes! He said we can meet this Friday at around 4:30pm. He also gave me an address to where the meeting was going to take place.
I was excited- I was finally going to start taking music seriously in my life. It just started as my coping mechanism ever since the whole "incident", but now I was taking action into making it more than "just a hobby."
Since my- I guess you can say "interview", was approaching fast, I needed to decide on what song I was going to perform. I hadn't thought of one yet-but I had an idea in mind. And of course I was going to play it on the guitar. I've never gone anywhere without it, it's basically my most prized possession. Anytime I'm free(which hasn't been that often nowadays), I always jam on it.
I haven't told Felix yet- but I'm planning too. He most definitely knows Straykids. Felix is also very obsessed with music to the point it's low-key concerning, but he's obviously not as addicted as me. My obsession with music probably reaches up to the extent that it's highly unhealthy, but I don't mind.
Since today's Monday, I still had a few days to prepare for my "interview/audition". Maybe I'll have Felix to help me decide a song- he may not know how to play instruments but I often admire his selection and taste...
But speaking of Felix- that reminded me...I don't think he ever gave my textbook back- better get it back from that moron before he loses it.
TIME SKIP TO FRIDAY-
I was a little nervous as it was already Friday. I couldn't stop thinking about my "interview" because I knew it was going to be become a reality in a few hours.
I told Felix about my "interview" a few days ago. So after my classes, I called Felix and asked if we could meet up one last time before I had to leave. As usual, he agreed. We walked to a park near campus to go over my performance once last time. It was 3:18pm when we met up, now it was currently 4:09. I still had about twenty minutes before I had to leave.
Felix advised me that I should arrive there a little early to make a good first-impression, I agreed. But since I did want to make a nice first-impression, I last minutely stopped by my favorite coffee shop to get some drinks.
Chan notified me that there was going to be a total of six people there, including myself. Assuming that most of them drink/like coffee- I bought five iced americanos and one watermelon smoothie. Just incase if a someone didn't like coffee as much.
I checked the time again. Then froze-
It was already 4:23. Without a thought, I sprinted out the cafe towards the bus stop. "Shit, I hope their studio is nearby. It's my first day for god's sake- I can't be late.", my mind panicked. Unfortunately- when bus had reached my stop, it was 4:31pm. And since I was already in such a rushed state, I forgot to call Chan to tell him I was going to be late.
I finally got to the studio but it was currently 4:42.
"Oh my fucking god. If they get don't accept me I'll understand why though-maybe I shouldn't have bought the drinks.", I told myself before I stepped towards the entrance door. The "studio" actually looked just like a regular house, it wasn't that big but it wasn't too small either. I rushed inside as I was already more than ten-minutes late. But what I had seen when I entered left me shocked.
The place was filthy.
It looked like a whole dumpster just shitted itself in the house. The common area just looked like a regular living room with a settee, a table, and a TV. There was a mini kitchen on the right and a door right next to it. But the whole place was just scattered with clothes and towels- and the kitchen was littered with unwashed dishes and other garbage. For a minute, I almost thought I walked into the wrong place. I know living as five college boys in one space won't always be expectedly clean- but this was just atrocious.
I took my shoes off until I heard a door open. A guy stepped out-I'm assuming he was Chan? He had brown hair, a black tank top, black shorts, multiple piercings, and black house-slippers on. Was this dude emo or something? What's with the all-black dresscode?
He looked up at me in the eye before speaking-
"Ohhh you must be Seungmin right?! Welcome! Sorry for the mess haha...", he greeted me with a smile but was awkwardly scratching the back of his head. Probably embarrassed by the disastrous state of the house.
"Yes I'm Seungmin, I apologize for being late. I wanted to get some refreshments for everyone but my bus arrived late...", I formally said.
He cheerfully responded back- "Oh it's totally cool, Changbin just got here a few minutes ago so technically he's late too. And wow-thank you so much! Jisung's going to love you for this...but you really didn't have to." He quickly took the bag of drinks from my hands as he noticed I was still carrying my schoolbag and my guitar on my back.
"Come! I'll show you the way, once we reach downstairs you can get settled and meet the others. You'll just introduce yourself and just show us what you got. 'K? And don't be scared- some of the guys may try to look intimidating, but they're just fooling around.", he explained casually as he lead me down the stairs to what I guessed was their practice room/studio.
Once we got downstairs, he bursted open the door and shouted- "YO KIDS!!! THE NEW DUDE'S HERE!!!"
When I walked in the room- I was once again stunned by the appearance. The "studio" was actually just a spacious room filled with instruments, furniture, and other (musical) equipment. In the center of the room was a small couch with a coffee table placed right in front of it. But on the shelves, there were hundreds of cased award trophies, books, and albums/CD's. And on every wall, was entirely decorated by posters and pictures.
In the room, there were three guys sitting on the couch and one was standing by the instruments. They all seemed to be chatting until they heard Chan's booming voice.
They stopped in their conversations and snapped their eyes towards Chan and I. Two out of the four guys were glaring at me like I was a threat. One just remained stoic, and the last one actually looked excited.
Fuck, why did Chan have to scream- now their attention is on me. I cursed at myself and just awkwardly bowed while stepping carefully into the room.
"Oh no...." I definitely was not expecting anything good.
