HYUNJIN'S POV:
After saying that, I felt a hard punch on my tricep. I jolted from my seat- "Dude! What the hell was that for?!", I exclaimed.
I looked over to Seungmin, but he just looked at me with stern eyes as I also noticed his hand was clenching onto my sleeve. "Take me home Hyunjin. I'll give you my address.", he demanded.
I shook my head- "Nope, it's late and I'm exhausted-I don't have the energy to drive you back home. And the road is not safe right now, as you can see- it's currently raining cats and dogs." I was probably being stubborn right now, but I didn't care.
He just kept his head low and shifted his posture towards the window, I heard a soft sigh escape his lips. He opened his mouth again- "But won't I be a burden to you...? And what will your parents say about this?"
"Nah, I live home alone so we don't have to worry about that. And you're not going to be much of a problem, you're just staying over in the end.", I said- in attempt to comfort his uneasiness-but I think I made it worse.
"Maybe he has family to take care at home?", I wondered.
"Hey. Just tell your family that you're not going to be home-"
"That's not the issue...", he said, cutting me off. This made me even more confused- so after a few seconds I decided to ask again. There was a red light, so once the car paused-I turned my head, facing the boy sitting in the passenger's seat.
"So what's the issue? My house is more than big enough, and I definitely have a change of clothes if you're uncomfortable with sleeping in your current outfit."
Oh boy...none of my words were having effect. He just remained silent before I saw that the light had turned green. I stepped on the gas pedal and resumed on the road. I heard some shuffling from Seungmin, but I just brushed it off as I continued to drive towards my house.
My neighborhood wasn't too far away from campus, so it was always a decent drive from home to school. And like I already mentioned, I do live home alone.
The reason being is that I never had a real family in my life. It's pretty ironic, because who would've guessed that the "campus prince" of JYP university doesn't actually have parents to pay his bills? No. I did grow up in a rich community, but I mostly spent my childhood with my grandparents. My parents didn't give a shit about me because I was "interfering" with their lives, so my grandparents were actually the ones who "raised" me.
My grandparents were just as rich as my parents, perhaps even wealthier. My grandfather had actually retired from his old company before I was born...so technically I did not grow up poor. But although my grandparents had took me in since I was an infant- they never seemed to show me real parental love like people talk about in fictional movies/shows. For my whole life it just felt like I was sharing a big house with two elderly persons.
That was until I was seventeen, almost about to turn eighteen. My grandfather passed away, and it really impacted my grandmother's physical and mental health. Due to her old age and her loss, she became too unstable to continue living. So she soon passed away soon too. I didn't feel or get very emotional at their funeral, so I moved on very quickly. Ten days later, I was called to court for the will of my dead grandfather. Obviously, I was given all of his inheritance- his houses, money, personal belongings, etc.
So that's been my life since my grandparents' passing. I used the money for my college entry and tuition, I got in, and I've been living off of it ever since.
Don't get me wrong, my life's been good. I don't mind that I'm lonely most of the time, but that's why it's fun to fuck around a lot. It's nice to constantly have someone to look at me and touch me. It doesn't matter if it's the same one person or not. Even if it's only for a short amount of time, it's always satisfying since I've been deprived from it for my whole life.
But I've never had any thoughts in a serious relationship. I probably wouldn't have the commitment or stability to maintain a romantic connection with somebody else.
I was instantly snapped out of my head when I heard a soft voice from my right. "Hey Hyunjin...?", he asked.
"Yeah? What's up? Don't worry, we're literally here now so you don't have to wait any longer.", I said while swerving into my driveway.
When I parked and shut down the car, there was a moment of silence.
*GurgleE gUrgleee
I looked at Seungmin to see one hand over his mouth and one hand on his stomach, I immediately got the memo.
"Hungry huh? When was the last time you ate?", I asked.
He took a breath before shyly confessing- "S-since 3:30..." I looked at my phone and it was currently 9:17pm...
My eyes widened- "So he hasn't eaten ANYTHING for the past six to seven hours...? Oh my god." , I thought.
In a dash, I opened the car door and motioned the boy to come out. I rushed up to the front door and fumbled with my house keys. Once I found my key and unlocked the door- I bursted it open as I gestured Seungmin to come inside.
As soon as I heard the door shut, I started to stumble through the kitchen. I first checked the pantry to see what I had- "Ah! Ramen! Everybody likes ramen, I think this will do. Wait- there's also tteokbokki, agh I want both! Okay- this is for Seungmin, maybe he'll like both as well."
"Hey Seungmin, are you okay with rabokki? Or is there anything else in particular you'd like?", I asked as I noticed Seungmin still standing at the doorway. He looked confused, and frozen- until he answered. "O-oh yeah that's fine, but can I get my stuff from the car real quick? I'll just quickly borrow your keys if you don't mind."
"Oh yeah go ahead." I said as I tossed my keys to the boy. Once I heard the door open and soon close- I got straight to cooking. I pulled out an average-sized pot onto the stove and collected all the ingredients from the pantry and the fridge. After about 4 minutes, I heard someone enter the house again.
As I was putting the noodles in, Seungmin called out from the doorway- "Hyunjin! Where can I put these?"
"Just put them in the lounge area! We'll take them upstairs later.", I shouted back.
And finally, the dish was done. I pulled out some matting for the steaming pot as I started to set the table for the two of us. I got some plates and utensils and neatly placed it onto the platform, after that I fetched a small can of soda and a bottle of water from the mini fridge under the counter.
"Hey Seungmin! The food's ready, you can come take a seat now.", I called out. I sat in my chair as I took ahold of my chopsticks. The boy walked towards the kitchen-but then his face went into shock. I was confused of this reaction.
His eyes widened, he paused in his steps- then again slowly made his way to the chair that was placed across from me. He looked at me with sad eyes- "Hyunjin...You didn't have to make all of this...And it's not healthy that were eating this late too-"
I cut off his sentence- "Just sit down and eat, from the looks of if- you're famished and need food. Forget that it's late and just eat, I made two servings for a reason."
He obediently nodded as he took his seat across from me. I can tell he was trying to avoid eye contact, so I just left us to eat in a relaxing silence.
