Running late you desperately tried to catch your breath but was unable to through all the continuous and rapid fits of coughing.

"Fuck Im so late.."

Cursing at yourself for waking up so late you ran inside the building hoping to still make it in time for class. Walking into the room you felt everybody's eyes land on you like vultures to their prey.

Dashing to your seat you shoved yourself into it and waited for class to end without bothering to even listen as you had already missed 40 minutes of the lesson.

The second you were dismissed you practically sprinted out of the classroom without literally sprinting.

Running out into the main area your first thoughts went to finding him.

Spotting that ominous blue hair from all the way across the room you jogged over to him.

Out of breath once again you stole a seat next to him.

"Zandik! Hey, sorry I was late this morning so I wasn't here"

You chuckled slightly still trying to grasp onto your breath.

"No worries, I wasn't really all that bothered that you were missing."

Glaring at him you chuckled at his "joke".

"Haha very fun, I bet you missed me loooadss"

"...Totally."

Without a care in the world to even look at you, you continued staring at him awaiting his gaze.

"..."

Still as he remained he continued keeping his head down into some book desperately trying to avoid conversation with you.

"Zandik."

Finally, he decided to praise you with his attention.

"What?"

"What do you mean"what "? We practically haven't seen eachother in a week since you disappeared last week."

"..So?"

"..."

"Wow you're such an ass."

Giving you a sarcastic smile he returned to whatever book he was reading.

He was acting like he couldn't give two shits about you but you knew he cared, even when his act was so good you almost couldn't see through it, even then you knew he cared somewhat about you. You were his only actual friend after all.

Not one of those randos who acted nice and sympathetic to him to get his homework answers or what not.

"So... Why were you gone? Did something happen or...?"

He glanced up for a moment, meeting your eyes with his before looking back down.

"Nope, I was just busy."

"Mhm.. Liar."

You felt a little annoyed regarding him lying again but that's just who he was, he never shared anything about himself, always keeping it all in.

But that annoyance quickly dispersed upon realising why he had been keeping his head down the whole time..

A bruise covering his eyes, the purple nature of the bruise contrasting against the red embers which coloured his iris, and a few scratches on his eyebrow and forehead.

Feeling a little insensitive you took upon a soft tone before speaking again.

"Uhm, Zandy..?"

Looking at you once more he spoke in a slightly more agitated way.
