Meredith, Derek. Derek, Meredith. That was all the hospital was talking about. As for how the news had spread throughout the entire hospital, gossip bouncing from floor to floor and department to department (Honestly, the patients probably knew, too), that was a mystery to Juneau. But, now that it had, it didn't seem like it was leaving any time soon.
When Alex and Juneau entered the hospital that morning, the first thing they heard was someone saying Meredith had it coming for sleeping with an attending. She almost earned herself a punch to the jugular.
(No she didn't. Juneau was not a fighter, by any means. Even if she were the one to throw the first punch, chances are she'd probably still lose. She'd just have to find another way to defend Meredith's honor. Without the violence).
Juneau felt for Meredith. It wasn't her fault that Derek decided not to tell her about his wife, even if he left because she cheated on him. He should have been upfront about it when the two started dating. Now that it had come to light, the blame was mainly getting placed on Meredith, and Juneau thought it was insanely messed up how someone who was essentially the victim in this situation was the one getting faulted for it.
She and Alex had just left the locker room, the woman chatting off about God knows what when his phone rang. It was unusual because everyone in his contacts knew his crazy shifts and knew not to call him during them.
He pulled it off of the waistband of his scrubs, and Juneau peeked over his shoulder to also see who it was. She frowned when she read the name, recognizing it from something Alex had told her not too long ago.
"Wait, Amber? Like, Amber as in.." The woman stopped speaking, her question going answered as Alex nodded in silent confirmation.
"Yeah." He looked around, blowing a puff of air out of his mouth. "It's been seven ━ Um, I gotta ━ I'll be back. Um, don't tell Bailey where I went."
Juneau frowned, looking at her best friend who had an uneasy look on his face, "Alex, we have rounds like now. Are you sure you don't want to tell her? I think she'd understand."
He shook his head, hesitating for a moment before calling his sister back, who immediately picked up, the male walking backward as he tilted the phone slightly away from his ear. "I don't need anyone knowing."
The woman sighed, standing on her own for a few moments before heading to use the bathroom quickly before rounds started. On her way there, she didn't notice a dark-haired woman staring, hoping that she didn't get caught and end up seeming like a creep.
(She didn't, but it would have been a sight to see if she had).
As she was washing her hands, she heard the door open. Not thinking much of it, she finished up at the sink and dried her hands. However, when she went to leave, she was stopped by Cristina leaning against the stalls closest to the door as she silently watched her. Juneau scoffed, shaking her head and beginning to walk past her. "Wait, Juneau━" The Mexican ignored her, trying to walk around her as she didn't want to be in a conversation with her. "It's about Meredith," She told her. It made Juneau falter, which granted Cristina some power over her as she spun the Mexican woman around to face her.
