Opening my eyes against the sun, I rolled over and looked a the clock. 1:15. "Boomer you want to go to the dog park?" Boomer was sprawled out on the left side of the mattress. He was a bed hog, but I didn't care. He was like my heart, I loved him. Boomer perked up his ears real quick, but then closed his eyes.

Getting out of my queen sized bed, my brothers that it would be hilarious to replace my old bed with it; I went and brushed my teeth then threw on some jeans, a black tank top, and my black leather jacket.

The jacket had our crest on it above the left breast. Seeing that I was the Leader I got to have my crest ironed one, it was my patch. My old jacket got put into storage for anyone else that joins. The meeting with the Las Bestias wasn't happening for another couple of hours, but I wanted to go out and spend some time with Boomer since I totally ignored him yesterday. Soon the newbies' burns will be healed and I'll be able to let them walk and play with Boomer.

I hurriedly packed the beach bag and picked up my piece off of the desk and put it in the waist band of my jeans. You never know when things might get out of hand.

"Adiós Papi!" I called out as Boomer and I were heading down the stairs, making our way to the door.

"Hold on Jezebel. Where are you off to?" My dad was in the kitchen with a cup of coffee in one hand and some business papers in the other. When he stepped down, he decided he was going to call up some of his 'friends' that owed him some favors. After a couple of strings were pulled, he was able to work at a corporation as long as his tattoos were covered.

"I'm going to Ocean Park with Boomer so we can play before the meeting starts."

"Be careful, and remember how I taught you to handle negotiations." He basically started mentoring me when I turned 16. That's when I found out that I was next in line to be the Shot Caller.

"Juan! José! Get Boomers frisbee and put it in my car!" I called over to them. Boomer didn't mind playing with the twins so I let them play while I was discussing with Carlos and Sebastián.

We were at Ocean Park, sitting around a campfire, the nicest place to bring a dog. There was the ocean on one side, parking lot on the other, and then the obstacle course with plenty of play room in the middle. When mafia business became too much I'd come out here and just play with Boomer. Afterwards I usually hunted down the person that pissed me off.

"Jez, this deal is too important to leave in the Las Bestias hands." Carlos told me, he hated the Las Bestias even more than I did because he's been a part of the Family longer.

"Don't you think I know that? Of course I fuckin' do. But the guy we have is a brother of one of them, they'll agree to anything." Carlos still acted up sometimes when he thought I was too young to understand. He just doesn't know everything Papì taught me and had me do.

"I hope you're right about ---" Carlos was cut off by the roar of engines.

We all looked over to the parking lot. Five red bikes came to a stop and their owners leisurely got off them. I scanned the group, searching for their Leader, but came up empty. I guess the King didn't want to be a part of this.

We all sat down in our formation. Me in the middle, my chair was pushed back a little bit, and Boomer at my feet. On my right was Carlos then Juan. On my left was Sebastián and José. The chairs across from us were set up the same way.

"Buenos tardes, Sangre Azul." Damon announced in a bitter way. He took the seat in the middle, which got a couple of raised brows from my members. No one really expected him to be King, since the last we knew his father didn't want to step down anytime soon.
