Vy and Sigrid are in their studio.
Sigrid wears a dress made of different pieces of sewn fabric, a shirt folded into a top, and her hair is tied in a braid. Vy is wearing jeans and a dark purple blouse.
Sigrid is in the kitchen, slicing carrots on a wooden cutting board. She's already prepared tomatoes, and carrot peels are on a plate on the worktable's edge. To her left, there's a frying pan on the stove, filled with vegetables.
Vy is reading a book on the living room sofa, legs folded on the couch.
Sigrid adds the vegetables to the frying pan. She places her utensils on the counter, covers the pan, and turns the stove knob. There's a clicking sound, but there's no flame. She tries again twice, but the result is the same. She opens a drawer below the sink to her left, frowns while closing it, then turns to Vy before checking the other drawers.
-Is there more gas?
Sigrid turns to Vy, a worried look on her face. She replies calmly.
-Almost, but I'll ask Dima for matches, it's nothing.
Vy raises her head from her book.
-But...
Sigrid waves her hand dismissively.
-It's nothing, it'll take me two seconds.
She's at the front door with her hand on the doorknob.
Vy turns, placing her right arm on the top of the couch. Her book is open and held by her right hand.
-They're not here today.
Vy remarks. Sigrid stops her movement.
-Alright! I'll go see Ronin.
Vy places her open book on the table.
-Why bother? I have what we need.
Sigrid releases the doorknob and turns back, not smiling.
Vy pulls out a Molotov cocktail from her belt and gets into a throwing position. She visualizes the throwing angle and the green zone where it'll land. Sigrid shakes her hands, indicating 'no'. The projectile lands directly on the stove. Sigrid is propelled backward. The sofa falls forward, the TV screen shatters. Vy remains still. Sigrid grabs her shield to block the glass and wood debris. She protects Vy by pulling her under her right arm and positioning the shield in front of them. It deflects the fire and debris.
Robots emerge from the white ceiling and start extinguishing the fire, sucking the smoke into their tanks before evacuating it through the bay window.
Sigrid gets up, places her shield on her back, and surveys the kitchen damage. The plaster separating the kitchen from the living room is destroyed. She turns to Vy, who's also getting up. She gestures with both arms towards the damage in the kitchen, which is already disappearing as robots move along the black marks on the floor and reconstruct the destroyed furniture.
-Vy, seriously, how many times do I have to tell you not to use a Molotov cocktail in the studio! Look at what you've done. We'll get scolded by Kestrel again!
Vy looks her in the eyes, arms crossed.
-I spent time preparing this meal, and you ruined it in two seconds!
Sigrid is in the kitchen. She points to the completely blackened but intact pan on the stove.
-Why isn't it destroyed?
-The food is still intact. Lift the lid.
Sigrid frowns at her. She lifts the lid with a cloth she had in her pocket, gritting her teeth.
-Don't tell me that...
She stops talking.
-I'm researching to improve Scorch's arm.
Sigrid puts the lid back. Vy continues explaining.
-Anvil and Cannon are working with me. After hours of thinking, we found a chemical process that resists high temperatures. It's in liquid form. We mix it with molten steel. We can create any object with this metal.
-You really made a pan.
-Yes.
-You're even working on your research here. You need to stop. We're here to rest, not work. You're doing too much at home already!
-I get it, but... just stop, okay?
She notices Vy's book cover intact on the floor.
-Even your book is a test subject!?
-Okay, I'll try not to work as much here.
-And especially no more pyromaniac acts.
