"I know it's hard, but he loves you a lot. He rejected every girl for you. I know he realized it late, but his love for you is true. Please try to give him a chance, just one. Everyone deserves a second chance, but I will not force you. Take your time and think about it." Saying this, Mrs. Ahuja left the room.
Aahna didn't go to the room where he was. She felt bad for some reason, as she now knew that he was not as bad as she had thought.
Nirvaan didn't have his dinner and said he wasn't hungry.
The kids said they would sleep with their grandparents, as they wanted to spend some time with them.
After everyone went to sleep, she went to his room because she couldn't avoid him. There, she saw him standing on the balcony and looking at the sky.
She stood beside him.
He felt her presence and said,
"I am trying so hard, Aahna. Trying to make everything better, to do everything that might make you think I am worth a chance. I can't change the past, but the future is in my hands. But it seems that I am not doing it right. There isn't a bigger loser than me. A bigger fool or failure is me, not you. I failed everyone—Aahna, my parents, our kids, and myself. I curse myself for not listening to my own heart, my instincts, which kept screaming at me that you could never be a cheater or a gold digger. But I ignored all that; I let others' words and my fears win. I abandoned you when you needed me the most."
"You never told me that your parents forced you to go away," she gently asked him.
He sighed.
"Can that change anything? Does it give any justice to my wrong decision? You already hated me. I believe you would never believe me, and I didn't want you to hate my parents. They only wished for my happiness. I will wait for you forever, Aahna. However long it takes, I will wait. Even if you never forgive me, I won’t force you. I have already hurt you a lot. After all that, you are with me, my children are with me. I can't thank God enough. I am just glad to be a part of your life and our children’s lives. Please don’t give up on me. I know I don’t deserve it, I am not worthy of a chance, but please don’t take away my hope. It gives me the strength to fight."
"Hmmm." Aahna nodded, thinking that perhaps she could give him a place in her heart. She wouldn't stop him, but he had to prove himself and regain the trust he had lost.
He smiled hearing that.
"I love you, Aahna," he said happily.
"Don't... I—"
"You don't have to say anything. I am saying what I have wanted to say for the past five years. Don’t love me out of pity. I want to earn it. I just want you to know that I love you. I want you to feel my love; it’s a beautiful feeling, I know. I want you to be happy. I will never force you to accept my feelings. Just know how much you mean to me," he explained.
Aahna looked up at the sky.
He smiled and said, "I think we’ve switched roles."
"How so?" she asked.
"Before, it was you who loved me and waited for my love. Now it’s me who is craving for it."
"We have changed a lot," she agreed, acknowledging his truth.
"I know. We’re mature now, and we’re parents of two little munchkins."
Aahna smiled and said, "It's already late. I’ll go sleep in the other room."
Nirvaan looked up at the sky and thanked his stars for bringing these precious people back into his life.
Almost an hour passed.
