SUN RAYS SPILLED OVER THE WATER. Over the teens sitting in that boat, sharing a laugh as they went. Already, a pink tinge began to paint the tops of her cheeks, her nose, and her shoulders. Kiara Carrera sat behind her, shaking a generous amount of sunscreen into her palms. "You burn so fast," she commented, smearing the protectant over the younger girl's skin. Julia jumped at the cold feeling, beer dripping from her lips and down her chin. Collecting on her chest and ultimately disappearing into the cups of her bathing suit top. "It's genetic," Julia said, wiping her face with the back of her hand.
"So is skin cancer," Kiara added. She rubbed the sunscreen into her shoulders, across her back. The white substance stained her own hands, between her fingers and under the rings she wore. Julia sighed, preparing for another lecture on skin care. However, JJ had different plans. "Wanna see something cool?" he asked, standing to his feet. His own face was coated in sweat, glistening under the sun. His blue eyes sparkling with mischief. The four immediately understood just what he was going to attempt.
Grievances sounded from the remaining teenagers. "Dude, no," John B said, scooting back to the back of the boat. Pope grimaced from his spot behind the wheel. "Hey, Pope. Can you go a little faster?" JJ asked, already making his way to the front of the boat. Kiara groaned in annoyance. Her thumbs pressed into Julia's shoulders, massaging the sunscreen into her skin. "JJ, it doesn't work," Julia spoke up, hoping to persuade him to stop.
"It's gonna work this time," he argued lightly. Pope, despite not wanting to be an accessory to what was about to happen, accelerated. The boat slowly began to pick up speed. Wind blowing in the girls' hair. JJ tilted his head back, his bottle of beer several inches from his face, and tilted it too. Beer followed the wind, spraying against his face and at the others. Julia quickly covered her face while Kiara ducked behind her. "You're getting beer in my hair!" Kiara exclaimed.
