Violet's POV
Everything was black. I could hear and smell and taste and feel. I just couldn't see or move. Soon I saw light. I was standing in the corner of the living room. It was weird because it didn't feel like reality. That's when I saw my body on the coffee table. There were things that usually were on it on the floor. The remote, the coasters, a magazine. Mr. Fredericks was giving me CPR. Sawyer was in the opposite corner sobbing into his Mother's shoulder. Skylar was on the phone with the police and Aric came down with a duffel bag. I heard sirens wailing. Not a minute later two paramedics came in with a gurney. They put me on and hooked me up to a heart machine. It was beeping rapidly. They shoved something down my throat and I threw up into a bin they were holding. Out came about sixty pills. I had almost forgotten about the pills. I forgot that I had taken them in case I chickened out with the knife, which I had. I looked to my right and saw a bright light. Standing in the light were my parents. I walked over to them.
"Hi Mom, Hi Dad." I said softly.
"Hello my sweet Violet." They said in unison.
"What's going on? Am I dead?" I asked.
"No baby, you're in a coma. It's your choice whether you stay or go. If you walk with us then it's over. If you walk with us then you're dead. If you'd like to stay, then you can." My mother said.
"Oh Mama, Papa! I missed you two!" I said hugging them each. "I want to be with you."
I turned around and looked at the chaos unfold. Sawyer was crying harder than I had ever heard him before. I could see his dad's solemn face. His mother had tears cascading onto her cheeks. His brothers were watching my limp body. Their worn expressions were enough to make anybody break down crying. I could feel my heart start to slow and the light was starting to surround me.
"But I can't leave the Fredericks." The light froze.
"We understand my love." My father said to me. "You're 14. Live your life. Look at how special you are. That Sawyer boy really likes you."
"He's older than me."
"By a year. Sweetheart listen to me. You are so loved. We didn't get to finish our lives. You still can. We will love you always but we are in a better place."
The paramedics put an oxygen mask over my face. My heart rate was almost to zero and the light started spinning around me again. I touched it and my finger felt cold and numb. Like a part of me was already dead. I gave my parents one last hug.
"Goodbye. I'll see you again someday. Today just isn't the day." I stepped back from the light. "I want to live."
Sawyer's POV
Her eyes shot open and she shot up. Her back cracking. She started screaming.
"MAKE THE PAIN STOP PLEASE! IT HURTS!"
The paramedics were trying to give her morphine.
"I saw my parents." She said.
Then she was whisked away into the ambulance and I was ushered into our truck. I didn't know what was going on. I was crying too hard. I didn't notice that my brothers were actually hugging me. I didn't notice that I actually hugged them back. I didn't notice when Aric tried to soothe me like I usually did to Violet. And I didn't notice when Skylar started to whisper things in my ear like "It's going to be ok. She's alive. She'll be ok. Calm down Sawyer. You're safe Sawyer. Just breathe Sawyer." My last thought was Violet.
