Sawyer's POV
Five days. It had been five days since Violet had been hit by that truck. I remembered exactly what had happened when I came home from the hospital.
~flashback~
I walked into the hotel room Violet and I shared. It was empty. It felt cold in dark. My world was falling apart. Nobody would tell me how Violet was doing. Nobody would let me see her. If it weren't for those stupid fans. This stupid competition. I just wanted to come here for my music. Not the fame or fortune. I collapsed onto the bed and started wailing. I was screaming as loud as I could into a pillow and hitting it. I was so angry and hurt. I heard the door open and it slammed shut again. I knew it was my mom. She rushed over to me and tried to pry my hands away from the comforter but I didn't want to let go.
"STOP! VIOLET SHE'S GONE! SHE'S DEAD ISN'T SHE?!" I screamed. I still wouldn't let go.
Eventually my mom managed to tear me away from the bed and onto the floor where I pretty much just gave up. She wrapped me into a hug. Her arms were around me extremely tightly but I didn't care. I just cared that she was right here. I wailed into her shoulder and she rubbed my back, shushing me. She started to rock back and forth and to be honest it still felt comforting. We continued like that for almost half an hour.
~end of flashback~
This week I had decided I would sing Iris. That was our song. I had been practicing it all week and it was finally time to get up onstage and sing. I walked on to the stage and played the first chord of my guitar. Then I started to sing.
"And I'd give up forever to touch you. Cause I know that you feel my somehow. You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be and I don't want to go home right now."
I remembered Violet's tattoo and tears filled my eyes. I tried to keep them from falling.
As I continued the song I was fighting a losing battle and the tears started rushing down my face. As I finished the song I was almost straining to keep my composure. I walked up to the coaches and Pharrell spoke first.
"Sawyer, that was probably one of your best performances yet. The emotion was real. I'm very sorry about Violet."
"Violet." I choked out. I started to shake with silent sobs. The coaches looked at each other. They all have compliments and apologies.
As I was walking off stage everyone was screaming at me to see if I was ok. I wasn't. They were all yelling and it was so loud. It was so overwhelming. I started to feel dizzy.
Joshua Davis's POV
Poor Sawyer. I knew how much he loved Violet. As he was walking off the stage everyone was screaming and I saw him stumble. He looked confused. It's then when I knew what was going to happen. I ran to the entrance of the stage where he was and saw him. He had a few feet left to go. When he made it to the door he looked at me. That's when he fell. I caught him in my arms and when I looked he was unconscious. I dragged him away from the stage door and to the tailgate room.
"SOMEBODY HELP!"
That's when Koryn Hawthorne ran over.
"He's fainted. Stay with him. I'm going to get his mom. She's in the audience."
I started to run and when I got to her everyone was talking since it was a commercial break.
"Kirsten!" I yelled.
"What Joshua? Hi. How are you?" She said kindly.
"I'm fine. It's Sawyer that isn't. He's fainted."
"Oh my God!"
The two of us ran back to the tailgate room and we saw Sawyer on the floor where I had put him. They had propped up his head on pillows and his hat was on the couch a few feet away. A few members of The Voice staff were here to help. Miss. Wendy, their school teacher, and Ms. Trelawny the vocal coach were there. They had put a cold washcloth on his forehead and he looked pale.
"Should we call 911?" Koryn asked.
"No sweetie. This happens quite often when he feels nervous or overwhelmed. He either faints or throws up. Let's just be glad he fainted." His mom explained. "We just have to wait until he wakes up." She said calmly.
So we did. A few left back to go do what they had to do. Koryn was the last to perform so she left to go sing. A few others had after-show interviews with buzzfeed and left for those. I however stayed along with his mom and Miss. Wendy.
After a few minutes we saw him stir. And then his eyes opened slightly but he squinted then shut again.
"Sawyer?" His mom said calmly.
"It's bright. What happened" he responded quietly.
"You passed out."
"WHAT?!" He yelled sitting up quickly. He noticeably regretted that move when he moaned and dropped his head back into his hands.
"Take it easy there Sawyer." I warned him.
After we sat with him for a while to make sure he was ok, I left to go do my interview.
Sawyer's POV
"Mom?"
"Yeah sweetie?"
"Did anyone in the audience see me pass out?" I asked nervously.
"No honey."
I nodded and stood up.
~At The Interview~
"So is there a certain lady back home you've been pining after? Hopefully? Hoping?" The interviewer said.
"Well actually my girlfriend. She's here in LA but I'm not 100% sure how she's doing."
"Oh that's right! I heard about Violet. I'm so sorry."
"It's fi-" I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and saw her. She was standing right there.
"Hey Sawbug."
"Violet!"
