Han Sohee
The dinner went well despite me and Soyeon exchanging each other with dirty look. For the love of my father, we tried not to react much infront of him. We have to behave careful now that he has serious heart condition.
I don't know why she hate me that much. Chanie and Me have good relationship as sibling so I don't know what up with her acting like this.
It was a long night catching up— maybe with lowkey bantering with Soyeon. Tonight was fun chattering with my father and Chan.
As we got home, Dad remind me that we have something to talk important. He even gesture me silently going to his office. Once I arrive his office, a nostalgic scent of wood mixed with a not so strong perfume welcomed me. Still, his office was neat and clean.
I sat on the single couch chair that semi facing the my dad's desk. In the middle of reminiscing on my own, I didn't realize that dad already sat on his expensive yet seem cozy looking swivel chair.
He cleared his throat and look at me a with a timid face.
"Finally you're home Sohee, but I guess this is only temporary?" He spoke with uncertainty.
I let out a soft hum and lean my back on the couch. "Glad to know you know my intention why I am here."
My dad let out a sigh but a light chuckle to be followed. He also lean back to his chair whilst giving me a guilty and somewhat hesitant look.
"If Chan didn't tell you were rush to hospital, I won't know you're suffering from heart problem. I have to call and bribe our family doctor to know you have heart failure." I said with a disappointing tone.
"I'm sorry for not telling you about my condition but I don't want you get worried," he said and gave me a fake smile.
"You don't want me be worried, but I'll be in deep regret if something happen to you dad," I sigh. A suddenly sad and scary thought came out in ny mind. I quickly shook my head and hope it won't happen.
I won't let my father die. Atleast not yet .
"Hey, that won't happen." Dad spoke getting what I mean. "Its too early. Maybe soon." He joke which making it more worst.
I scoff at him. "Don't joke like that Dad."
"You could have told me sooner about your condition. I send someone to take good care of you." I said.
Dad frown at me obviously disliking what I've said. "So still you're not coming home."
"Nope," I said. "There's a witch. You know that."
He let out a heavy sigh. "Aigoo. You really hated your step mom that much?" Dad asked.
Actually I don't hated that woman. I just gave her the same energy she gives me. I don't really have a problem when she's with dad, but I don't like how she treated me unfairly. I respected her and accept her to the family but I guess people change after marriage. Since then we've been bickering back and forth.
"I don't. I just gave her the same energy." I spoke nonchalantly.
"How about you two get along?" He sigh.
"You know I don't have much time right?"
I quickly shifted my gaze somewhere and feeling uncomfortable as he remind me about it.
"Your father only have a year or less to live, ms. Han."
"Please? As my request before I die?" He said softly.
I frown at him but my face quickly soften as he look sincere about his request.
"You won't die." I strong said but somehow thought about it. Causing emotional or physical stress to my father can increase the risk of losing his life sooner or later.
I guess I'll try to hold my mouth and temper now.
I sigh in defeat. "Fine. I'll try to make up with her."
Dad smiled happily as his request are granted. But it won't last long.
"Yes! Thank you my daughter!" He spoke with wide smile.
"But," I said sternly that cause his smile went down and slightly slouch on his seat.
"I knew it it has 'but' on it." He said. "Fine, what is it?"
"You should stop working now. Let Chanie be incharge of your business." I strongly said.
"I could stop but Chan don't want to manage the business." He spoke nonchalantly. "Neither you."
I snorted. "I'm a nurse. Not a business woman."
"Tsk. I should not have agreed to enroll you in that course." He sighed regretting what he have done to me making laugh subtly.
"Chan doesn't want to take over as he would rather focus on his entertainment. So I have no choice to work my ass off while I live." He said.
"Can't I hire someone to manage your business?" I said as if 'it was a matter of'.
Dad rolled his eyes. "As if it was easy to to trust those who you hire."
"Can't Soyeon manage your business?" I asked.
Father shook his head no. "No. She has no idea to manage the petroleum businesses. She rather design extravagant dress instead." He sigh.
Right. Soyeon is a fashion designer and founder of a well known clothing line here in Korea. She has talent and look, but not with attitude.
With that, me and my dad went silent. The room vibe's went uneasy. The silence went into a minute not until Dad broke it.
"But I know someone who can manage..." Dad spoke with hesitation on his face. Which made my eyebrow raise. A sudden heavy feeling weighted me base on his tone and action.
"Since were talking about business and request, I want a special request. You might hate it but that is very request from you." He gulped.
My eyes narrow at him. "What do you mean I'll hate it?"
"As you know, my life can be gone any time soon," he started which making me hissed.
"Stop mentioning about your life dad! You're going to live more, okay?!" I said firmly.
Dad sighs and smiled at me cheaply.
"Sohee. For me to stop working and as my only request, I want you to get married."
