Smile like your life depends on it
Even if you're down
Tape up the corners of your mouth
Don't let them see you frownAnger is a relic
Fear a long since over fad
For they thought the world was better
If no one could be sadBut one thing they are missing
As grins rise like rolling tides
They only mask the multitude
Of misery insidePearly whites from passing faces
Paired with hollow,empty eyes
Pleading for a getaway
From this cacophony of liesAnd through the smiling robots
People wound like plastic toys
We've lost sight of the very things
That used to bring us joyA child's birthday party
Unenthusiastic cheers
It's no fun when you've been smiling
Without end for seven yearsWeddings become soulless rituals
New promotions bring a shrug
Even births of newborn babies
Are swept under the rugSmile like your life depends on it
And in a way it does
But perhaps death is preferred
To living in this hellish fuzz
