Gwanda squealed, plopping back into her seat "I bet he's still into me"
Talk about delusional.

We came out of the mall with bags of clothing, makeup, and candy that Gwen paid for. I wonder if she treats just anyone this nicely, especially someone she's only been friends with for like...2 weeks
"Oh, (Y/N). You like Hobie, right?" I nodded enthusiastically at the name. Liked him? No, I love Hobie. I've saved up hundreds for all merchandise possible, know all his songs and even have the videos from his brief runway model era that were supposed to be discarded from the internet.
"Well, I got you a ticket." The paper basically shone in her hands as she waved it around. Despite having everything possible, I have never actually been to one of his concerts.
"Oh my gosh thank you so much!" I squealed, throwing my arms around her. She patted my back, mumbling something about it wasn't that serious. November 13th is just a month away.
"Do you want a ride?" Gayatri asked, I shook my head. "No, I have another place I have to get to. Don't worry, my ankle is fine." I added when a worried look appeared on her face.
"Okay then, bye" They both started leaving, Gayatri turning back and giving me one last smile.

I stood in front of the store's mirror and examined myself in the ill-fitting, poorly-made Spiderman costume. The bright red and blue colours weren't doing much for me. I remembered some black and pink spray cans Naya had given me when she visited last summer. 'just in case I felt like being bad.'
If I could just find some tutorials on YouTube, I could turn this costume into something more my style.
Not wasting time, I placed the suit on the counter and the old man behind the cashier eyed me and the costume skeptically.
"That'll be $16.10," the old man told me, his tone dripping with judgement.
"But the tag says it's $8," I questioned.
"It's double for adults," the man replied, crossing his arms across his chest.
Rolling my eyes, I placed a $20 bill on the counter and placed the costume in a bag. It was already almost 4 PM, I should be going home.
I exited the store and walked out onto the busy streets. I tried to navigate my way through the crowded sidewalks and was bumped a few times as people moved past me. No hard feelings, after all, they all had somewhere to be.
My phone vibrated in my pocket and I pulled it out, pressing the on button to view the notification.

I crossed the intersection and spotted Miles and his sister sitting at the tables in front of the ice cream shop. Something felt all too familiar
(chapter 2 flashback) as I tapped Miles on the shoulder. He looked up at me, there was a hint of awkwardness to our encounter."Oh hey, (Y/N)," Miles said, his tone a little hesitant. I gave him a small wave, wondering why I had come up to him in the first place.
Billie was beaming at me, her mouth covered in vanilla ice cream, which was a far cry from the awkward silence between Miles and me.
"That's a lot of bags" Billie chirped, breaking the tension. I giggled, and Miles averted his gaze to the floor and played with his collar, looking uncomfortable.
