Someday we could be something extraordinary... They're gonna talk if they wanna. Let them talk since they're gonna...
Those words ran through my mind as I lay in bed, trying to fall asleep but not being successful. I even heard Melissa through my earplugs as she came in around midnight. I wanted to wait to tell her everything, tell her that Milo and I finally kissed and... were we together now? Or were we friends who just passionately kissed? People who were just friends didn't do that. We never really talked about progressing our relationship when we came back last night. We were just happy that we were both bold enough to take the next step.
But what would come of this? We both agreed with the whole "to heck with everything" thing, but in reality, Milo was a Disney star who people watched. I was already in the media because of being seen with him near the pool and at the Sky Gate filming, but if people posted us dancing and being close, and they came asking... would we be able to say nothing was going on? Something most definitely was now.
The lyrics came back. Yes, I hoped that we would work out, that we would become something extraordinary, and people would talk about us. The whole point of the song was to stress that the couple would do what they wanted and people would get used to them being together. Sure, Milo and I weren't a zombie and a human, but he was a Disney heartthrob and I was just your average girl from Washington.
Maybe I was thinking too much about this. But could you blame me? I made out with Milo Manheim in a luscious tropical garden under the moonlight last night!
Melissa came out of the bathroom, and I heard her get into bed. She started snoring in minutes. I wished I could fall asleep that fast. She was probably bushed from dancing her heart out tonight.
Thoughts of Milo swam through my mind like the fishes I wanted to see while snorkeling someday. My eyelids dropped, and before I knew it, I felt someone get into my bed with me, only on top of the covers as I was in them. I blinked open my eyes and stared at Melissa's huge blue ones.
"Good morning, sleeping beauty," she greeted me as she lay next to me. "So? Milo went back to the hotel last night after you left. Please, please tell me something happened."
She jutted out her lower lip and gave me the puppy eyes. I snickered and sat up as the covers were covering my legs. I looked over at my sister, her blonde hair a mess, and her face was clean of any makeup, yet she was still so beautiful.
"Well..." I started, building the anticipation. "Okay. Yes, something happened."
Melissa suddenly let out a scream, and I winced at it. "AH! Finally! Wait, are talking about something, right? Like a real something something?"
I nodded, then grinned. "Yes, I am!"
We both screamed this time, and it caught up to me that I actually kissed Milo. Melissa demanded, "Tell me everything! He left the dance, saying he was tired and wanted to head back to the hotel. But at least I knew what he was really up to." She winked.
"You were right. He found me sitting in that courtyard out there, in the trees and on a bench. He totally shocked me by showing up since we were texting not long before that. He paused in the texting, and I guess that was him leaving the dancing, coming back here to the hotel, and then finding me in the tropical forest down there. And, dang... He was so gorgeous just standing there in the low light."
"Ooo! And?!"
"We sat and talked about some things, like really sweet things, and he put his arm around me in a little hug since I basically told him how blessed I was to meet him, that meeting him was one of the best things that's happened to me not only here, but since breaking up with Ethan. He was so touched by that, I think, and..."
