Hook the reader with an awesome story. This may sound difficult but you just need a hooky description that makes the reader want to read your book or atleast check out the first chapter.
You can look at other books that have the same genre as your book, you can look for inspiration on what works. You need to remember that the aim of you description isn't necessarlily to write down all your plot or to show how good of a writer you are. It's to hook in your readers and to get them to read your first chapter.
The best way to do this depends on your genre and the readers you want to hook in.
I like a short description with a tag line. A tag line grabs peoples attention it's short and doesn't cost the reader mutch effort to read, but it gives them a flavor of the story.
Then you can follow with a short description - Emphasis on short! Because people are lazy. It may sound harsh but it is very true. - Get your point across as concisely as posible and make it hooky.
