If your cool cover and hooky description have managed to hook in a reader, you DON'T want to lose them at your first chapter. Wich means, don't start your story in a boring place. Don't give your reader a reason to put your book down and stop reading.
Always remember, the reader doesn't owe you a thing. You can't say "It's a bit slow at the start, but keep going, it get's amazing at chapter 6." and then expect them to do so. Because let me tell you, they won't. Minimise the effort it takes for the reader to read through your book. If it get's better at chapter 6, is there any way you can start your story there?
