"Oh, well no estaré de acuerdo." (translation: i will disagree.) Mexico said sarcastically. "Deseo llevarme este estado conmigo." (translation: i wish to take this state with me.)

"Mexico, you have to understand me, Texas is no longer a state!" UN softly yelled.

"Oh, boo hoo. Lo que sea que digas, no lo sostengo." (translation: whatever the fuck you say, i don't stand by it.) Mexico sighed. "You know what? I asked this small country named Australia if he believed Texas is a country. He said yes. I will not stand by this."

"How? You're like, I dunno, three inches shorter than him??" Texas stated, clearly trying to correct Mexico.

"Who asked, you.. uhm.. Tonto estrella solitaria! There we go."

"You are clearly such an asshole." Texas said, not taking Mexico's joke.

UN walked away to the desk to call America, seeing if he was on the way. They knew he should have been quicker than usual. It was a very serious thing to worry about right now.

After a few minutes, he finally picked up.

"Land of the free baby, the fuck do you want."
"Are you here yet?"
"Pretty close, yeah. Just got off that dang exit. Why you need me so bad?"
"Mexico is here, trying to take Texas with him."
"I won't let him go that fast. I'm tryna hurry, k?"
"Okay."

America hung up before UN could even say another word. A few minutes after waiting, he finally arrived. Mexico walked over to the doors and just waited.

"What are you doing here?" UN asked Mexico, confused.

"You saw America get here. I need to talk to him, dumbass."

"If you say so." UN waited patiently as America opened the door. They tried to act as if absolutely nothing happened earlier. "Hello America!" They chuckled awkwardly. "Did you.. fix that star yet?"

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Don't worry about that."

"Oh, okay! Good, good. Don't worry about me! I'm sure that Texas is ready to go home in just a couple hours!"

There was an awkward silence between them for just a couple minutes. UN looked down the empty hall to for of course, no reason. Suddenly, America broke the silence.

"Are you fucking mentally unstable, UN?" He asked, concerned that UN never acted like they were right now.

"Oh, I guess you caught me. Well, to say the truth, I was lying to you." UN moved some papers to a drawer under the counter they were standing by. "Texas is going to go in a little bit. Please, please, take your time!"

"Whatever." He sat down in a chair, pulled out his phone, and decided to watch some tiktoks. He kept scrolling for around two minutes before going to youtube to watch an hour long documentary about his country. He was obviously going to do it, he loves freedom.

Mexico, however, was still standing by the counter, doing the exact same thing. It seemed like as if there was nothing else that was going on. All was quiet. It looked like nothing was happening that day at all.

UN looked towards America in a slightly confused manner as they decided to call his name.

"Uhm, America?"

After a few seconds, he finally turned off his phone and looked up. "What."

"Can you go check on Texas, you know, to see if he's ready?"

"Maybe.. in a little bit. I'll text him in a bit." America stated, refusing to get off of the chair he was sitting in.

"He doesn't have his phone with him. I have it." UN held it up and gave it to him. "Please give this to him on your way?"

"Okay, okay. I will." America finally got up and walked down the hall for the room. He tried to look for an open door, even if it wasn't that open at all. After a long time of searching, he finally gave up and sat back down.

"Lazy, America?" Mexico asked sarcastically.

"No, it's just.. if he's independent I may as well leave him on his own. Forever."

"Forever? Para siempre, ¿en serio?" Mexico really wasn't joking anymore. "Like, never talk to him again? Are you sure, país más grande?" (translation: greater country)

"Oh my god, no. That's not what I meant!" America exclaimed. "Guess I'll go find him again."

The door to the room opened, and that's when he knew, he finally found it. He softly tapped on the door before asking. "Hey Tex, you ready?"

"Yeah, Just a sec." Texas saw America had his phone with him, so he just took it right out of his hands without him knowing. There was a ton of unread messages though, all of them being very concerning. He went on all those messages to see what they said, but none of them really needed a response yet.

It was clear he was ready to finally go home and pack up. He really missed what it was like to be at home, but he wasn't going to be there forever. He was only going to stay with the other states for a little while, and then that would be it.

"Hey, UN?" America shouted.

UN walked over patiently and tapped America on the shoulder. "Yes?"

"He's in there." America pointed to the nearby room with the door open. "Oh yeah, almost forgot, you better not take any more of my states like that and just like that, make them independent like they had no history. You understand?"

"I get that you never wanted this to happen, but hear me out, he wanted it!"

"Look, ever since I even had states, I told them they were never going to leave!" America calmed down a bit. "I just want them to feel safe with me. I don't want them to feel uncomfortable with other countries, that's all."

"I see.. let's make a compromise." UN grabbed a clipboard from their desk. "I will do everything in my power to make sure Texas stays safe from conflict. You, however, will have to deal with this. I know change is hard, but he needs a second chance, okay?"

"Fine. You ready Tex?"

"Finally, let's get out of here!"

Texas walked out of the room with a bag with all of his stuff in it.

UN walked by the entrance and saw them both leaving towards a car.

UN was proud of Texas for trying so dang hard.
