Tonight would be a special night after all.

Texas was going to try and get away again.

It wasn't time to give up now, Texas was going to run away for a second time. Of course, he would never want to make it harder for the others to have to find him again! How.. stupid. Or at least that's what everyone else thought. Besides, after he got lost the first time, many people believed he was such the asshole for doing this.

The time before he became independent was running out, really quickly. It was so fast that he couldn't even get to keep track. Well now it was late at night. Little did he know, some of the states got away with not going to bed at their bedtime without America knowing.  Looks like now really wasn't the best time to run away once again.

Meanwhile, California and New York were just listening to a song in the living room. (the same song above). Of course, they wouldn't know if he would ever run away.

Texas was just about to open the front door, but it was too late! New York saw that it was happening. It wasn't for a while until both girls started to whisper to each other, then do something about it.

"Hey Tex, whatcha doing, eh?" California asked in a mocking tone.
"Yeah, what's up?" New York also asked.

Texas just decided not to respond, but he did whisper something to himself.

"Nothin, just makin a good decision."

"Oh, what was that?" New York just decided to take a couple steps forward.
"New York, not sure if you should be catching up to him like that.." California worried.
"Well then, Cali, should we tell dad he's doing this again...?"
"I dunno."

Looks like Texas had nowhere to go now. The door was locked. It was like America knew what Texas was going to do. Luckily a key was on the table nearby. He grabbed the key and opened the front door, running out and closing it behind him as he ran off. Looks like California and New York were just way to confused to understand.

Where to now? There's literally nowhere to go for now. He just sad down by the front porch, falling asleep. All he was thinking about now while sleeping was the success of his independence, even if it wasn't possible, he still believed so..

Besides, it was what it was meant to be.

Texas woke up, still outside. It was literally not sunrise yet as he checked the time on his phone. 5:30?? Oh shoot. He had to pretend that he didn't even attempt to run off. He unlocked the door, staying quite as he closed the door behind him and ran to his room, acting like he was asleep, but he was just faking.

A couple hours later, Texas was just staring at the wall in front of him, but not for long. He heard America say something into a megaphone.

"I don't care what your timezone is, get up!"

Texas decided to "wake up" after America said that, rushing downstairs as normal. America was just about to leave for a UN meeting, as always, so he had Texas watch over the states.

"Good luck, see you in a couple hours."

As soon as America finally arrived home after his meeting, it seemed like all was going well. It was for the first time in a while that he was actually able to be proud of Texas.

"Well done, Texas. Now don't run away again. I'm keeping an eye on you."

Texas understood and rushed outside, where Florida needed him. Out there with him was Delaware and Ohio.

"Hey my guy, what's up?" Florida seemed to be pretty cheerful about what he had to do.
"I'm doin alright. Didn't ya.. want me out here?"
"Heck yeahhh-" Delaware replied as he stepped forward.
"Yeahhh, take this!" Ohio chimed in as he gave Texas a plain white flag.

As he looked at it for a moment, he looked back up at Florida and the others, confused.

"Why do I need this??" Texas asked.

Ohio looked at him with one of his sudden death stares. He knew about what was going to happen next.

"I know you want to be independent so.." Ohio stopped for a moment. "You say sike right-" Florida decided to cut off what he was saying.

"Don't listen to him! He's just.. sad you're going!!" Florida lied, trying his hardest not to be caught doing it.
"Yeah you can leave whenever you want!!" Delaware also lied, trying not to show his little smirk.

Texas looked down for a moment, thinking of something. He then looked back up again after a couple of seconds.

"Oh.. is this just for nothin?"
"Not really.. it's just for if you need to surrender during world war three!" Florida said as Delaware started laughing a bit.
"Exactly, that thing!" Delaware exclaimed as he hid his hands behind his back.
"Well okay then, not that I would be a part of it.." Texas shrugged, walking away.

As he walked away, Florida and Delaware turned around and started to talk quietly to each other.

"Flori.. maybe Ohio's right.. we shouldn't let him leave.." Delaware said as he started to worry.
"Look Dela, if it's going to happen, it's going to happen. Quit worrying about it.." Florida replied, trying to calm Delaware down.
"I know, but it's just sad to see him go."

Later that day, Texas looked outside and thought of his next attempt to escape. He just had to remember that America actually was watching him. Watching him very closely, just to not have him go. Of course, the states can't really leave if they join, so would that mean that he just didn't care? He'll never really know anyway.

He looked back at the window, wishing he could be independent much, much sooner. Still, that was just not possible. The clouds just kept flying by, day after day. It was now that in less than a week, he was going to be closer than he ever was before to his final dream.

Independence.

He has to step up, of course. All he had to do was avoid America and Mexico. They were never right. Not anymore, anyway. He couldn't stay here for longer anymore. He just didn't like it! He knows about how hard it can be to achieve it, but he will achieve it. All he had to do was not let America get in his way.

America would always tell the states that...

They would never leave his side.
