Perhaps it had to do with the fact that it had been nearly four months since I'd stepped outside, and soaked up the sun. Or maybe it had to do with the fact that Jeongguk and I had the opportunity to spend more time with one another. Whatever it was, I was basking in sheer ebullience and buoyancy. It pumped my veins with indelible bliss that erupted in my chest, leaving a sensation of effervescence in my warm body.

I couldn't even remember the last time I went to a street fair— it was plausible that I had never ever stepped foot in one. I took everything in, the stand where they did face paint, the ones where they sketched cutesy caricatures of their customers, the food stands that aroused my appetite, and the stands with beautifully handmade jewelry. I didn't know where to begin.

Instead of walking through all the stands, I walked straight over to the ones that called to me. I almost felt sorry for Jeongguk— who had to follow me around and be interested in all the merchandise I gawked at. He did an amazing job at being present with me and taking in every last bit of our time together.

He would even point out a few stands himself, recommending the ones we should go to next. I appreciated his input.

I was having so much fun that I even forgot to take into consideration why Mikhail pushed me to go out with Jeongguk.

It was all left behind at the hideout.

My mind was busy with other things.

And I would allow it to wander, I was exhausted of having to maintain such a serious demeanor all the time, worrying about my future, and what I would have to overcome.

This time I would take in my days as a normal twenty-year-old.

"Look, Rey," Jeongguk's deep voice pulled me out of my thoughts as I looked at the fine pieces of jewelry on the clothed table. "This necklace is nice, isn't it?" He asked, pointing at an amulet necklace with a large maroon crystal.

I awed, resisting the urge to touch the captivating crystal.

"Red crystals are said to be associated with love, passion, and romance." An unfamiliar voice revealed, causing both Jeongguk and I to look up, meeting eyes with the woman behind the table. No doubt the owner of the shop.

I hummed, smiling at her. "It's a gorgeous stone."

I began taking a look at the other pieces of jewelry she had displayed on the table. I gazed at her fingers, bony and frail. She seemed to be on the older side, the roots of her hair dyed a light gray, the smile lines near her mouth prominent, along with the lines on her forehead. She was a woman of many expressions. I wondered if she spent time creating and tying every little knot of these threaded bracelets herself.

She did an amazing job if she did so, barely even a difference in the elaborate shapes and structure.

A few of the threaded bracelets had charms on them as well.
