Owen stood in front of her friends, "I was too late to stop them, I am so sorry," he bowed his head low.

Finnegan did not even try to fight back the tears that flowed freely, "Colin was no traitor and he was definitely no rapist," he choked.

"I wish I could believe you with my whole heart but they say he was involved with the English and I cannot trust either while both your stories hold weight. I am ever so sorry Finnegan," Owen reached out but Finnegan turned away.

"You are the reason the love of my life is dead. We, like anyone else close to you, are in danger as we are disposable," Finnegan's voice lacked emotion, it was cold as ice.

"You are not disposable, any of you! I need all of you, you four are my dearest friends," Owen tried, his heart was breaking.

"No, there is a difference between. Water, Gabriel and Martyn aren't friends but you, Your Grace, are my Queen. I am in service and that means no matter what it costs me, I must choose you," Finnegan did not look at her, he couldn't look at him.

"I will protect you all," Owen's voice broke too.

"How? You can't even protect yourself so how will you protect us?" Finnegan turned to face Owen again, crying.

"I promise I will try my hardest," Owen promised through tears, turning to leave the room.

Finnegan collapses onto the settee and cry heavily as her queen left the room. His other friends sat beside him to hold them tightly as he cried for his dead lover.

Before Owen could break down crying, she heard a yelp and turned to come face to face with Scott holding Bagheera on a leash.

Owen fell to the floor and embraced his beloved pet, "You found my dearest boy!" She stood back up and smiled towards the French bastard, "I apologise for my lack of dignity and poise, things have been hard."

"I understand that, believe me I do," Scott chuckled.

"This place is so much harder to understand than I remember and then I thought it would be," Owen shook his head a little.

"You are not alone here at Court, you know?"

"Of course I am not, I have my friends," Owen agreed, stroking Bagheera's head absentmindedly.

"I speak not of your friends," Scott chuckled with a flirty tone but his voice hardened when he saw his mother in the shadows, "I simply mean that I want Your Grace to be well," he bowed his head.

Owen smiled politely, taking Bagheera's lead, "Thank you so much, Scott," she turned and walked away with her dog.

Aurelia emerged from her place in the shadows, approaching her son.

Scott turned to face his mother, "Mother," he tilted his head down slightly.

"Where did you find it? The dog?" Aurelia questioned, eyeing Scott up and down.

"It was drawn to the blood deep in the woods," Scott shrugged a little.

"How close were you Scott?" Aurelia pressed more.

Scott did not answer.

"You must be careful or a girl who will never be yours will be the reason you bleed," she turned and left her son alone with his thoughts.
