"This is it," I thought. "It ends here, there is no where else to go, now. I can't go on." All these thoughts were going through my head, all at once. I couldn't process the real life facts so quick. Everything was turning blue around me. Was this my fate? Is this where everything ends up? I didn't know. All I could see was the blue and white around me, surrounding me like, like I was in a computer. But wait, that's the only problem. I am in a computer, and it ends here.
"5...4...3...2...1... Go!" My coach was yelling at everyone, including me, his best student.
"You all need to work harder! GO, GO, GO!" My legs were brushing against each other, and what little artificial wind was left for the training room, was only barley touching my arms. I looked over at coach, only to see him slumped over the bench, trying to be proud of his "wimpy" trainees. His glasses had a blue touch to them and were shining under the white fluorescent lights. I was getting tired already, my breathing was getting heavier and faster. My arms were beginning to get tired, I wanted to let them dangle down like spaghetti. My heart beat as fast as my legs were moving, and that was fast.
"Celeste, even you need to speed it up! Hurry! The timer doesn't stop ticking, ya' know!" BEEP, BEEP, BEEP! Time was up,"Shoot!" I thought.
"Time's up girls! You look worn out, oh wait, you girls shouldn't be worn out! Training may be tough, but you've done it enough to know that you can't slow down! Your final tests are in 7 days. Oh, and Celeste, you can do better than that! You've never done that badly during any practice. What's up?"
"I don't know coach. I guess I just was all caught up on the final test." I answered.
"Well what's going to happen during the actual test? Are you goin' to flunk it too?" Coach asked with a yell in his voice.
"No coach," I said, "I won't mess the real thing up like I did today." I tried to be sincere and calm, hoping the coach would understand and forgive me.
"Well lets just hope you don't mess it up. As for you girls, you better clean up your act by tomorrow's training. It's gonna be a long one, with 10 jink-ups tomorrow!" I could hear everyone groan, jink-ups are everyone's least favorite training warm-ups.
I began to walk home. The streets were empty of people, everyone was inside. Besides, it was past the starting time for syetia. I needed to hurry, the Street Sees Inc. would be coming out soon, to check for people out during syetia. But I didn't want to hurry though, after that much training, I just wanted to saunter slowly back home. As I turned the corner onto my street I noticed something peculiar. I saw a girl who'd never been here before.
"Hey! Hey you! Who are you?" I yelled. I started running.
"SHHHH! What do you think you're doing? It's past syetia!" She was a small girl, with long blonde hair. She spoke as of she'd been crying.
"Sorry. Sorry, just who are you?"
"Why do you care? You probably should stay away from me anyway." Her voiced cracked as she spoke.
"Why would I want to stay away from you?" I inquired, "You seem nice."
"Well, I better tell you, only cause you asked. You see," she sounded as though she was going burst out in tears, "the Mayor, just glitched me, and is sending me to Iontrille!" She burst out in tears and put her head into her knees.
"Oh my gosh! That's so sad, I'm so sorry!" I tried to comfort her but it didn't seem to help at all. "You know what, I don't want to see anyone like this." I had no idea what I was doing, words just seemed to be seeping out of my mouth. "I want you to come stay with me and my family. Your to young for this to happen to you." I didn't no what else to say, and besides, she looked like she was only 10 years old.
"You can't do that, someone is bound to find out." There were tears pouring down her pale white face, onto her knees.
"You're coming with me, i'm serious. Lets go." Just as I said this, a huge boom sounded in the distance, down by Central Eir. The girl below and I jerked our head towards the sound, only to see a huge dark cloud, covering the Main Computers' tower. I knew what it was just from one quick glance at it. We needed to go. The Mayor was checking every household for children at 14, to stamp with a device to be sure they go. Go where?, I always used to ask my mother. It was almost time for me to go to Eir, for the Computer Game Choosing.
