Those words made my heart stop. Delete, delete, oh my god, DELETE! I didn't know if Carina could hear the guards and understand everything. This was the worst day, of my life, and it would be so much worse with a pack of robot guards on my tail. I was technically, a fugitive.
The Mayor probably never had a problem like mine, with some random, little girl, running away. I just had to hope that, at least. I looked at the guards feet again and saw another, bigger pair. These were the Mayors' feet. I stretched my arm out in front of Carina and scooted her back so they couldn't see us. I kept moving farther and farther back. Then, I stuffed my head into my arms and silently weeped. Everything was happening now, on this one day. I wasn't ready to handle this much trauma. I lifted my head up to see the guards, but they weren't there. They must have left to go find me.
I slid up to where Carina was. I saw her face, and it looked as of she'd just seen a ghost.
"Carina, Carina, are you ok?" I was still whispering, afraid the guards were still near enough to hear. "You look like you're, dead."
"Oh, yeah I'm fine," she said, without looking at me and without any expression, "it's just that, the Mayor was just talking about me, and he said that, 'he knows that I'm not close to Ionville, and he thinks that I'm with you.' " She lowered her voice into a deep robot type voice, to sound like the Mayor.
"Oh god. We need to start moving. But one thing I have to tell you. I going to find my dad. He was MIA but I feel like he's still out there. Possibly captured by the viruses. I want to know f you're willing to come with me, and find my dad?" I was choking down the tears, I didn't want Carina to see me ball my eyes out.
"Well, ok. But where exactly do we have to go to find your dad?" Carina seemed as of she wasn't truly up for this.
"Well, we might have to go, out of the borders, into the uncharted lands." Even I was scared by this. The uncharted lands was the most dangerous place someone could go. Viruses are swarming the land, eating everything in sight. And when they eat, they get bigger. When they get hungry, and there's not enough food for them in their lands, they start traveling to our safe borders. They have never made it close to us until 1 year ago. They were getting extremely close to our lands so the Mayor sent out his soldiers, and helpless dads, like mine, to fight them off. We've been safe ever since. But thousands of dads from all of the different Computer Game sections have died, for gone missing.
"Oh, o-ok. Ummm, I guess I'll go. I mean, the Mayor is on my tail also, so I better come with." Carina and I sat for a while under the building, just to rest. We both had been through a lot in just one day. I had to think of how we were going to find my dad. This would be the hardest thing to ever happen to me in my life. Bigger than the Computer Game Choosing, bigger than getting into my Game. This would be huge. And if I died outside of out borders, I'd be gone forever.
