I was making myself ramen noodles when I heard my phone ringing from the living room. I quickly glanced at the clock-

11:49 pm

Who the hell is calling me around this time on a Tuesday night? I walked out of the kitchen and picked my phone up from the couch.

One missed call from Elijah
flashed across the screen.

Why would Elijah be calling me around midnight? I decided to call him back and he immediately picked up.

"Hey Elijah, what's up?"

"I was just calling to check in if you're still free for tonight?" The background noises made it very clear that he was not at home.

"Free for tonight? Seriously, it's almost midnight. I'm about to head to bed, and so should you, old man." I smile over the phone, I loved calling Elijah an old man. Technically, he is one.

My comment earned me a snicker, "Well, too bad, open the door it's freezing outside Y/N."

"What do you-"

"Y/N, just please open the door"

"Jeez calm ur balls, I'll be there in a minute." un-be-livable. I hung up and threw my phone back onto the sofa. I put my ramen away and went for the door. There's no way in hell he's standing-

Oh.

"Well, what a pleasant surprise"

"Don't flatter your-"

"I was talking to the snacks, not you. Don't you flatter yourself, Elijah"

He rolled his eyes at me, "Are you going to invite me in or will I have to continue to stand here in the cold?"

I hadn't even noticed the cold breeze that suddenly hit me. I hurried out of the doorframe and waved him inside.

"Now, care to explain what you are doing here past midnight?" I narrowed my eyes at him as he set the snacks down on the table.

"I couldn't sleep, so I decided to come over."

"You couldn't sleep?"

He raised his right eyebrow at me, "isn't that what I just said?" I swear this man is making me go insane. I groaned and flipped him off. His thick laughter filled the room.

Never have I heard a sweeter sound.

"It's a shame you don't laugh often." The grin disappeared and instead, a small smile spread over his face. "Why is that?"

I sat down on the couch and he turned his body towards me. His elbows were resting on his thighs.

"Well, because it sounds amazing. I swear that's a damn waste." I smiled back.

"To be honest with you, not everyone can make me laugh," something I couldn't recognize flashed behind his eyes but disappeared just as fast as it came.

"Then I should maybe consider myself special." I grin and tease him. "You're overreacting" I might have taken him seriously if it weren't for that stupid, heartwarming, grin on his face.

"Mhm, sure I am. So what do you want to watch?" I asked, reaching for the TV remote.

"I'm down for anything to be honest." Now, when did he manage to cover himself with the spare blanket I kept on my couch?
