➳ reunion cuddles

4 months prior, Elijah had left so he could hunt his brother Niklaus down, and today he had finally returned back home. I could see the exhaustion so clearly written on his face - it pained me.

He was exhausted and yet he refused to sleep.

After about an hour I managed to convinced him to lay down and cuddle with me.

"I missed you, darling." Elijah kissed my face in multiple places before settling back down. He had laid his head on my chest with his strong arms warped around me in a very protective way.

"I missed you too, amor." I gently kissed the top of his head before I started running my hands through his hair. "Close your eyes for me," I gently whisper.

Elijah let off a deep sigh, his body relaxed as his eyes closed comfortably. "Darling?" He mumbled in response, it was barely a whisper and I could see the exhaustion present on his beautiful face.

"Yes, my love?"

Elijah leaned his head back into me, still barely awake but finally letting himself rest. "nothing you just feel nice." He says with one eye open. "I'm tired" he groans just as his entire body weight was settling onto me.

"Then get some rest, please" I smile down at him and kiss the top of his head, "i love you." His worn eyes open and his gaze collides with mine.

"I love you too," he returned the sentiment with a kiss before laying his head back down. He looked so sleepy and the dark circles under his eyes looked even darker.

"just let me know if I'm too heavy" he mumbled while leaning into me again. He was so cute when he was drowsy, it made me swoon for him all over again. Elijah's entire face relaxed into a soft smile as I caressed his head - his body falling limp and finally relaxing.

"thanks my love," he mumbled as his eyes closed, now fully trusting the warmth that was consuming him. It seemed like all his exhaustion was just melting away in my embrace.

He is so perfect it hurts.

"mind if I cuddle with you a little longer?" his voice was so small and quiet. How could I ever say yes?

Firstly, because I quite frankly don't mind.

"Not at all," I shook my head while my nails scratched along his scalp slightly. Elijah nuzzled into my neck as I kissed his cheek. "I just want to stay in your warm embrace a little longer..." his eyes slowly closed again.

"but if you need to get anything done today...don't let me stop you." he added in a tired whisper. I knew exactly how he was, he would keep putting my needs before his own. It was such a sweet way of him expressing his love, which is why I loved him so much in return.

Always so considerate.

"Nothing to do at all, I'm all yours for the night." And I meant it. I haven't been able to hug or hold him for four months, I've missed him like crazy. He let out a small chuckle and being the loving boyfriend that he was he couldn't help but ask. "are you sure there is nothing you need to do today?"

"I told you," I grin. "There's nothing else I have to do, at least nothing that can't be done tomorrow." The smile that crept upon my face was a shy one. I knew that he didn't like it when I favored him over work but how could I not?

I was a vampire.

I could do this job a hundred times over, and besides - it's just a stupid way to pass time anyway. What I might not be able to do is cuddle my boyfriend again. Who knows what the future might be holding for us but all I know is that if Niklaus comes back, I might only be able to see Elijah daggered in a coffin.

And that is, if I'm lucky enough.

"you sure?" he still pushed. "you sure you don't need to do anything?" This time all I did was give him a long stare while trying to suppress a smile.

"fine..." he responded with a pouty face and a cute yawn. "if you say so," he added as he settled more into my arms.

"Sleep well, amor" I said before he blacked out.
