Lewis looked at the noble and beautiful woman in front of him.
Everyone envied him for having such a girlfriend. She was a popular television star and the daughter of the beckette family. After the death of irish ,audrey had become the only heir.

Marrying audrey was equivalent to getting into the beckette family.

"You look beautiful audrey. Lewis told her.

He was very satisfied with himself, and he even looked forward to the engagement party.

But at this moment, when he looked at his girlfriend wearing such a gorgeous dress, what lewis was thinking about in his mind was the scene from last night and isaac and claire's faces.

Had isaac seen him? There had been a second where isaac stared knowingly into the darkness. Had all of that really happened?!

Even at this moment lewis felt that everything he had seen last night was like a dream. Could it really be that the most powerful and influential and wealthy man in the entire city was slumming it with his ex-fiancee who'd murdered isaac landford's first love, and got convicted for it!?In what world was this even possible??

Looking at her fiancé's absent-minded expression audrey frowned. "What's wrong with you? You have been zoning out a lot in the last two days. If you don't want to get engaged to me, just say it."

Lewis sighed and then quickly smiled and said, "Of course not. Why wouldn't I want to get engaged to you? You know that my heart is only for you."

"Only for me? Audrey raised an eyebrow. "You really have no more feelings for claire?"

Lewis body stiffened slightly. Audrey was sharp. And she could be cruel. He said uncomfortably, "Why did you mention her again? I broke up with her years ago. How could I still have feelings for her?"

"Well then why did you want to help her find a job before?" she asked."I just pity her lewis replied.

"What is there to pity about her? You should pity my sister. Because of claire, she lost her life. audrey snorted coldly. "If you dare to 'pity' her again when isaac landford looks for you in the future, you'd better not blame our family for not supporting you."

Lewis's reaction was a bit delayed as he thought through all the possible scenarios for his ex-and her new... acquaintance. Before, he wouldn't have thought that there was anything wrong with his current girlfriend's words. But now... the existence of claire might not be all it seemed.

After hesitating for a while, he said tentatively audrey  do you know if isaac has gotten involved with a new woman recently?"

"Of course not audrey immediately denied. Isaac  is notorious for keeping his distance from women. He's as cold as ice and it was a miracle that. irish fall in love with cold heart-and that she presented the only suitable partner for marriage." From the way she said it, it was obvious that audrey too saw the former engagement to her sister as nothing more than a strategic alliance between two wealthy families. Isaac landford has not had any other women for the past three years!"

It was for this reason that the outside world thought that isaac  loved her sister deeply, but only the beckett family knew that it was not the case.

But the beckette family would not take the initiative to expose that kind of misunderstanding. On the contrary, they even hoped that others would misunderstand more. It upped their value. Under the umbrella of the landford Family, the beckett family could get more benefits from them all.Lewis  heard audrey's words and said nothing more.

When the two of them had finished trying on their clothes and walked out of the dress shop, a car drove up in front of the two. Lewis and audrey both knew the person who got it. It was isaac's personal secretary Nathan Starland.

"Secretary Starland, why are you here?" Audrey asked curiously.

But lewis was stiff, and there was a hunch in his heart.
Nathan smiled slightly, "I'm here to invite Mr. Mayer's to a meeting." Then, his eyes turned to Mr. Lewis Mayer. Mr.Landford wants to see you."

His hunch was correct! Lewis exhaled a long breath. "Okay, I'll go see Mr. Landford with you." He didn't reflect on how nathan knew exactly where they were or how he'd timed it perfectly to intercept them as they left the store.

"Babe, what's going on? Audrey demanded.
Lewis started toward the car. "We will discuss it, if it pertains to you when I come back."
After he'd finished speaking, he got into the car with nathan.
Audrey  sputtered, but what could she say? The invitation had been clear and extended only to him.

Lewis settled into the car and did not look back.

As nathan pulled into traffic lewis asked haltingly, "Secretary starland, do you know why Mr. Landford wants to meet me?"

Nathan  met his gaze in the rearview mirror. "You're about to find out..."

Lewis cleared his throat. "What manner of business is this pertaining to?" Lewis tried again.
Nathan said with a faint smile, "You will know when you meet

Mr. Landford

Lewis undid the top button of his shirt. He was warm and getting more and more anxious.

The car stopped at the door of the Landford Residence.lewis followed nathan into the house and saw isaac sitting on the sofa, playing with an invitation card in his hand.

When isaac approached, he saw that the invitation was for the engagement banquet that he and audrey  had invited isaac to.

"We meet again isaac said faintly.

Lewis was stunned. At this moment isaac was wearing an elegant grey-blue suit. His hair was combed and tied back, showing his smooth forehead. The man had strong, even features, and while lewis wasn't one to normally pay too much attention to another man's good looks, it was impossible not to see everrst isaac landford and think that he was exceptional.

And it wasn't just the bone structure or the expression isaac landford radiated power. The kind of quiet, absolute confidence that told anyone in the room with him that he held all the cards and called all the shots.

His smile now, was lazy, but every bit arrogant.

It was no surprise that he attracted the attention of so many women. In the upper circles, many young ladies tried their best to attract isaac , not only because of his background but also due to his appearance.

However... When isaac 's dark eyes took in lewis .lewis had the distinct sensation of being stared at by a wild beast.

His blood seemed to have frozen again, and even his breathing became ragged.

It was just like... the feeling of being stared at by that person last night.

But yesterday, he had been in the dark while isaac  had been out in the open.

At that time, he had been able to see isaac, but isaac landford should not have been able to see him clearly. But now, he was completely exposed to isaac's line of sight.
