Chapter 18 - Before, During and After Sofia's Mission

The following morning, Bucky and Sofia are in bed asleep. They wake up to the sun rising. Sofia looks at Bucky and says, "Morning babe."

"Morning," says Bucky.

They kiss. Sofia moves Bucky's hair slightly. "How'd you sleep?"

"Good. You?"

"Good."

"Good."

They kiss once more as Sofia scoots in to snuggle with him. They sigh. "What time is it?"

Bucky looks at the clock on the nightstand. "It is... seven am."

"It is?! Oh shit! I'm going to be late!" She jumps out of the bed and rushes to her closet.

Bucky sits up and watches. "Late for work?"

She quickly changes clothes and heads to the bathroom to fix her hair and brush her teeth. "Yeah! I can't be late. I'm supposed to meet my partners for today's assignment."

"So, you don't know how long you'll be gone?"

"Nope but hopefully not too long."

"Do you know who it's gonna be?"

"Nope. All I know is that they are very good at martial arts and weaponry. Also highly recommended to work with me."

"Huh. Wonder who it is?"

"My thoughts exactly." Sofia grabs her bag before she heads out of the bedroom. She turns to Bucky. "Oh, could you possibly work on some of our wedding plans while I'm away? Like deciding how many guests we should have, groomsmen, and making an appointment for a tux and all."

"Don't you want to wait for me?" asks Bucky.

Sofia replies, "I figured let you make some decisions. I don't want to make all of the decisions for our wedding. I want you to have some input to what you want."

"You sure?"

"Positive." She goes over to kiss him. "If you need me just message me okay?"

"But I do." Bucky gives her a puppy dog look.

"Already?"

"Yes. I'll miss you too much."

She chuckles. "You're too cute." She kisses him once more then heads out of the apartment. "Love you."

"Love you more." He chuckles as he leans back against the bedframe.

Thirty minutes later, Sofia is walking down the hallway of SHIELD Headquarters. She is looking for the conference room. Once she finds it she enters inside. Several shield agents are waiting for Steve. Once inside, Sofia looks for somewhere to sit but notices two familiar faces. She says, "Nat? Yelena?"

They turn around and smile, surprised to see Sofia. Natasha says, "Sofia! It's good to see you." Sofia sits down next to them.

"What are you doing here?" asks Yelena.

"Here for my first day of work," Sofia replied.

"Wait, you're working with us?" Natasha replied.

"Yeah. Wait...are you two working here too?"

"Yeah," Yelena replied.

"Oh, nice!" Sofia commented. "Maybe we'll be working together."

"Yeah, that would be nice," Natasha commented.

"Yeah," Yelena adds. "The three of us are doing missions together! I can picture it now!"

At that moment, Steve enters the room. He approaches the podium and says, "All right, listen up, everyone." Everyone turns to face him. A hologram shows the report. "Sources report that there are things missing from the Avengers compound that are in the Black market. We're not sure what but Dr. Banner has compiled a list of what is missing so far. Also, there are several prisoners who disappeared from the blip that escaped from capture five years ago. I'm asking Agents Natasha Romanoff, Yelena Belova, and Sofia Nikolaevena to set up a search team for the missing prisoners. Use any sources necessary but appropriate ones. Also, remember to follow any guidelines that governments have. Though the governments are getting rid of the Sokovian accords, some may allow you to enter their borders, some may not. So be careful. And good luck." Everyone heads out of the conference room.
