Chapter 11 - Truth Revealed

Sometime later, Dr. Strange, Christie, and other doctors are operating and saving Sofia's life. They're also trying to do tests on her, to see how she is surviving.

A couple hours go by and Bucky is waiting anxiously in the waiting room for news to come up. Steve, Nebula, Natasha, Tony, and Loki enter the room and approach him. "Hey," said Steve.

Bucky turns around, stands up, and says, "Hey."

"Have you heard anything?" asks Tony.

"No, not yet. It's making me worried," Bucky replied.

"She's going to be okay," Natasha replied. "Sofia's always pulled through-"

At that moment, Dr. Strange and Christie arrive. Everyone stares at them. Bucky takes a step forward. He asks, "Well?"

"She will make it," Christine replied. Everyone sighs with relief.

"That's great," said Loki. "But how did she survive that? She was bleeding out, severely burnt, and coughing up blood."

"Well, one of her gifts is healing," Steve implies.

"That and I believe she used very powerful magic to protect herself or something like that but I'm not sure," Dr. Strange implies. "What drew me to that conclusion was I noticed that she had a mark on her finger where a ring would be."

Loki pulls out the broke up engagement ring from his pocket and asks, "Would it be from this?"

They all turn and look at the broken ring in his hand. Bucky's heart breaks as he sees that the engagement ring is somehow involved. Bucky gasps as Loki hands it back to him, "Oh god. Where did you find it?"

"I found it on the ground. It broke in half after you picked her up or something. Maybe even before."

Bucky looks closer at it and is devastated that the ring he proposed with is destroyed. Knowing this is hard for him, Steve says, "Nebula told us something about that." Bucky looks up at Nebula and his team and is confused. "Bucky. I think there's something that you and Loki should see."

Bucky shakes his head and backs away. "If it's a goodbye video, I'm not interested," he said quickly before trying to leave the room.

However, Steve touches his shoulder to stop him. "Bucky. Come on. Please." Bucky turns and sighs.

Sometime later, in the conference room of the hospital, Bucky, Loki, Natasha, Tony, Dr. Strange, Christie, and some of the team members are sitting there. Steve stands at the front and starts, "Before the fight, Sofia told Natasha a little about why Becca did it, about why she sacrificed herself for the soul stone. But after the fight and you took Sofia here, Nebula told us that Becca wanted to talk to her."

"About what?" asks Loki.

"The soul stone." Steve pulls up a security camera footage, the morning of the time-heist. Loki and Bucky are on the edge of their seats. Seeing Becca, alive and well, before she sacrificed her life.

"Hey Nebula, can I talk to you for a minute?" asks Becca.

"Sure," Nebula replied.

RECORDING - EARLIER THAT MORNING

Becca stands in front of Nebula. "So what's up?" Nebula asked.

Becca took a deep breath and answered, "Tell me again how Thanos retrieved the soul stone."

"Why?"

"I just want to know, please."

Nebula sees the look in Becca's eyes and nods in agreement. "Whenever a person goes to Vormir to retrieve the stone, they have to understand what they have to do to get it. Because it requires them to make a choice."
